A process for authorizing wireless service includes providing a generally rectangular flat form factor card having a first surface and opposing second surface. The process further includes providing a machine-readable activation code arranged on the first surface, wherein the machine-readable activation code is configured to authorize the wireless service when provided to a system associated with a wireless service provider, receiving the machine-readable activation code in a server, the machine-readable activation code being captured by a wireless device, and provisioning the wireless service to the wireless device from a wireless network when the machine-readable activation code is provided to the system associated with the wireless network.

A telephone with a card reader is disclosed. The telephone includes means for providing a first communication service. The card includes a memory, which stores information, where the telephone reads the information stored in the memory and provides a means for providing a second communication service based on the information. In providing the second communication service, the telephone obtains second communication service information from a datastore, which includes pairs of information and corresponding second communication service information. The telephone may include the datastore. The telephone may alternatively obtain the second communication service information from or a service server in response to a request. Alternatively, the information stored in the memory can be the second communication service information itself.

Disclosed herein is a keypad fluid guard for preventing keypad failure in inmate phones from exposure to fluids. The keypad fluid guard comprises a first portion that extends in a first plane in a direction along a width of a telephone casing of an inmate phone; and a second portion that extends in a second plane in a direction along a length of the telephone casing, wherein the second portion comprises a set of tabs for mounting the first portion of the keypad fluid guard in between a switchhook and a keypad of the inmate phone.

Methods, devices, and servers for as-needed update of a trusted list are provided herein. An electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) server receives a request for an eSIM of a particular type from a wireless device. The eSIM server evaluates the particular type and requests an eSIM of the particular type from a second eSIM server, which is not initially trusted by a secure element (SE) of the wireless device. The eSIM server sends a policy update to the wireless device. The wireless device passes the policy update to the SE, for example, a universal integrated circuit card (UICC). The UICC updates the trusted list with an identity of the second eSIM server. When the wireless device downloads a bound profile package (BPP) containing an eSIM from the second eSIM server, the UICC validates the BPP based on the updated trusted list. The eSIM is then installed on the UICC.

The embodiments herein relate to methods and apparatuses for mobile activation of a subscription. According to an embodiment, a method includes: receiving an identification information from a mobile device; allocating based on the received identification information a SIM profile from a pool of SIM profiles; transmitting the allocated SIM profile to the mobile device; the SIM profile including at least an IMSI and associated network keys; establishing a connection with the mobile device, wherein the connection is restricted until the IMSI has been associated to a subscription; and activating the mobile subscription for the given IMSI based on associated data or based on the IMSI relating to said subscription. The embodiments herein relate to methods and apparatuses for mobile activation of a subscription. The present invention provides implementation and communication methods, an apparatus and a system of a virtual subscriber identity module. The implementation method includes: receiving a VSIM application request sent by a terminal, where the VSIM application request carries an identifier of a VSIM desired by the terminal; obtaining corresponding VSIM installation information according to the identifier of the desired VSIM; and sending the VSIM installation information to the terminal, so that the terminal installs the VSIM according to the VSIM installation information. The embodiments of the present invention effectively solve a problem where an existing mobile operator network does not support the VSIM, and provide an effective and convenient operation scheme for an existing domestic or international roaming service.

The process includes, receiving a notification from a terminal in one-way communication, when identification information included in the received notification is detected, extracting data included in the notification, and updating display contents of a display device from first display contents to second display contents based on the extracted data.
