System and method for securely connecting network devices

A platform, apparatus and method for Internet of Things Implementations. For example, one embodiment of a system comprises: an Internet of Things (IoT) hub comprising a network interface to couple the IoT hub to an IoT service over a wide area network (WAN), and programming logic to program an identification device with one or more encryption keys usable to establish encrypted communication with an IoT device; and at least one IoT device interfacing with the identification device following programming of the identification device by the IoT hub; wherein once the identification device is programmed and interfaced with the IoT device, the IoT device uses the one or more keys to establish a secure communication channel with the IoT hub and/or the IoT service.

Update of a trusted name list

Methods, devices, and servers for as-needed update of a trusted list are provided herein. An electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) server receives a request for an eSIM of a particular type from a wireless device. The eSIM server evaluates the particular type and requests an eSIM of the particular type from a second eSIM server, which is not initially trusted by a secure element (SE) of the wireless device. The eSIM server sends a policy update to the wireless device. The wireless device passes the policy update to the SE, for example, a universal integrated circuit card (UICC). The UICC updates the trusted list with an identity of the second eSIM server. When the wireless device downloads a bound profile package (BPP) containing an eSIM from the second eSIM server, the UICC validates the BPP based on the updated trusted list. The eSIM is then installed on the UICC.

Methods and systems of using remote subscriber identification modules at a device

The present invention discloses methods and systems for communicating at a cellular router between a first wireless communication module and a first subscriber identity module (SIM). The cellular router receives a first request from a first wireless communication module and encapsulates the first request in a first modified request. The cellular router then sends the first modified request to a first SIM card in a first communication apparatus and waits for a first modified reply. While waiting for the first modified reply the cellular router sends at least one halt message to the first wireless communication module after a first time threshold. After receiving the first modified reply, the cellular router decapsulates the first modified reply to retrieve a first reply and sends the first reply to the first wireless communication module where the first modified reply is a reply to the first modified request.

Subscription activation for mobile wireless devices

This Application sets forth techniques for provisioning and activating electronic subscriber identity modules (eSIMs) for mobile wireless devices. An eSIM is reserved during a sales order process and later activated during device activation after receipt by a user. An option for eSIM installation in place of (or in addition to) physical SIM installation is provided when purchasing the mobile wireless device. The reserved eSIM can replace a previous SIM/eSIM or be a new eSIM. During device activation, installation and activation of the eSIM occurs. Activation of the eSIM can occur before or after deactivation of a transferred SIM/eSIM. The mobile wireless device accounts for propagation delay of eSIM activation through MNO servers by disabling and re-enabling the eSIM until initial attachment to an MNO cellular wireless network succeeds or a maximum number of retry attempts is reached.

A method performed by a device for determining a subscriber identification module (SIM) card to be used for a call is provided. The method includes determining, for each of plural call types and prior to a new call originating from a user equipment (UE), a SIM card to be used, from among a first SIM card installed in the UE and a second SIM card installed in the UE, identifying a call type of the new call originating from the UE, selecting, based on the identified call type, the SIM card previously determined for the identified call type according to the determining, and updating, based on performance of the new call and prior to a subsequent call, the determined SIM card for at least one of the plural call types.

Example device management systems and methods are described. In one implementation, techniques identify a first plurality of devices communicating using a first rate plan associated with a carrier. The techniques further identify a second plurality of devices communicating using a second rate plan associated with the carrier. The techniques analyze the first rate plan and the second rate plan based on data usage. The techniques then identify at least one recommended rate plan change for at least one of the first plurality of devices or the second plurality of devices based on the analysis.

Method and system for dynamic managing of subscriber devices in mobile networks

A system and method for managing subscriber mobile devices comprising: a home network (400) of a first mobile network operator (MNO1), in which data associated with at least one physical SIM of a subscriber device with an embedded SIM card (eUICC) is obtained, and a destination network (300) of a second mobile network operator (MNO2) which the device travels to, obtaining static data and dynamic data associated with at least one virtual SIM (503, 603) of the device. The dynamic data comprise a subscriber authentication key (Ki) and is obtained from a SIM provider platform (500, 600) on which the destination network (300) relies. The static data comprise IMSI/MSISDN identities and is stored in a pool (202) of the destination network (300). For a given virtual SIM, it is checked whether there is an association in a mapping table (106) of the first mobile network operator (MNO1) between the static data from the pool (202) and the physical SIM data from the home network (400).

System and method of associating and transferring financially valuable information recorded against an unregistered mobile phone number to a new mobile phone number

A system and method of associating and transferring financially valuable information recorded against an unregistered mobile phone number with an external identifier comprising the external identifier; an application program; at least one originating communications device having an unregistered mobile phone number assigned thereto; and at least one replacement communications device having a separate mobile phone number assigned thereto, the application program automatically obtains the external identifier and operates to direct at least one third party who holds financially valuable information recorded against at least one of the unregistered mobile phone numbers allocated to the at least one originating communications device to associate such financially valuable information with the external identifier; and where the application program directs the at least one third party to transfer the financially valuable information associated with the unregistered mobile phone number to the separate mobile phone number.
