A wearable exercise device with adjustable resistance adjustment controls includes a strap having a first fastener on a first end and a second mating fastener on a second end, wherein the strap is configured to removably secure around a user's waist. A housing connected to the strap, which includes a pair of internal spools each operably connected to a spring-loaded resistance mechanism. A cable is affixed at one end to each internal spool. The cables extend outwardly from opposing sides of the housing through a pair of cable openings. A handle is connected to an opposing end of each cable. A pair of resistance adjustment controls disposed on the housing are operably connected to each spring-loaded resistance mechanism. The user can wear the waist strap and grasp the handles to perform arm exercises. The resistance adjustment controls allow the user to independently adjust the resistance of each cable.

EXERCISE DEVICE

An exercise device for attachment to an exercise machine includes an enclosure having an outer wall that defines an internal space therein, at least one cable aperture and an attachment mechanism for attaching to the exercise machine. A winding assembly is rotationally captured within the internal space and includes a winding spool configured for receiving at least one cable wound therearound under the urging of a coil spring. A motor is used to compress or retract a torsion spring fixed between a moving rotor plate and the winding spool for changing a cable unwind resistance. A controller circuit is electrically connected with at least a power source, a user interface, and the motor. To perform exercises with the exercise device, a person sets a desired cable unwind resistance with the user interface and then repeatedly pulls and releases the cable.

PILATES EXERCISE MACHINE

In one aspect of the present exercise machine, an assembly is attached to the end of a reformer, where the assembly comprises a seat mechanism and a pedal mechanism. The seat mechanism has a seat, a bracket supporting the seat, and a height adjustment system, where activation of the height adjustment system permits selective adjustment and locking of the height of the seat and the bracket by restricting travel of the seat and bracket to a slanted path that is slanted relative to the vertical. The pedal mechanism has an axle, a first pedal arm with a first pedal, and a second pedal arm with a second pedal. The pedal mechanism is located stowed beneath the seat when the seat mechanism is in a lowest position and at least partially exposed in a higher position to permit pedaling by the user.

Grip exerciser with interchangeable resistance elements

Exerciser for strengthening the grip of the hand and/or muscles of the forearm having a pair of handgrips or handles which are removably mounted on the arms of a helical torsion spring in a manner permitting the grips to be used interchangeably with springs having different strengths or resistances. The handgrips are fabricated at least in part of rubber or other rubberized material with longitudinally extending bores having resilient side walls configured for frictional engagement with spring arms of different diameters in a manner that permits rotational slippage of the handgrips about the spring arms and limits axial movement of the handgrips on the spring arms when the grip exerciser is in use and permits the handgrips to slide axially along the spring arms during installation and removal of the handgrips.

STATIONARY BICYCLE APPARATUS AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME

A stationary bicycle includes a lever arm that is pivotable about a pivot axis. A biasing device rotatably biases the lever arm about the pivot axis. The lever arm is swept through a horizontal plane when rotated about the pivot axis. A user rotates the lever arm against the bias while pedaling to preload the body for a desired therapeutic effect.

Exercise Resistance Methods and Apparatus

An exercise apparatus includes a cable that is extracted from a housing when the extraction force is sufficient to rotate a drum that is rotatably mounted within the housing. A brake material is sandwiched between the drum and at least one tension band to provide adjustable resistance to rotation of the drum. A knob is rotated to adjust tension in the at least one tension band without affecting tension in the brake material. Indicia associated with rotation of the knob show changes in the resistance level as the knob rotates through more than one complete revolution relative to the housing. In the absence of user applied force, a rewind spring draws the cable back into the housing.

Orthostatic hypotension alleviation device

An orthostatic hypotension alleviation device comprising an outer casing comprising an aperture extending therethrough; a carriage arranged within the outer casing and configured to be reciprocally displaced towards and away from the aperture along a carriage displacement axis; a spindle arranged on the carriage and configured to rotate about a spindle axis; a tether at least partially wound around the spindle, the tether comprising a distal end extending through the aperture, the tether being arranged such that it can be extended from a retracted configuration to an extended configuration in which the tether is fully extended by pulling the distal end away from the aperture so rotating the spindle about the spindle axis; a spindle biasing mechanism connected to the spindle and configured to apply a biasing torque to the spindle about the spindle axis so as to bias the tether towards the retracted configuration; and, a carriage biasing mechanism arranged within the outer casing connected to the carriage and configured to bias the carriage away from the aperture.

An exercise and flexibility assessing apparatus includes a handle having a flexible member opening and a latch opening formed therein. A shaft support is mounted in the handle. The shaft support has a first wall and a second wall, distal from the first wall. A spool is rotatably mounted between the first wall and the second wall. A flexible member with indicia for assessment has a first end fixedly connected to the spool and a second end extending outwardly from the handle through the flexible member opening. A latch mechanism has an activating portion that extends outwardly of the spool toward the latch opening and a latching portion pivotally engaging the first wall. The latching portion is movable between a first position wherein the spool is rotatable with respect to the handle and a second position wherein the spool is fixed with respect to the handle.
