An image processing system includes a reading unit, a checking unit, a display control unit, and an image correcting unit. The reading unit reads image information from an original manuscript to generate image data. The checking unit checks whether or not a plurality of items listed in the original manuscript include an unentered item with the result of a character recognition process for recognizing a character contained in the image data. When the unentered item is present, the display control unit performs control to display information for informing a user of the unentered item. The image correcting unit adds a text with respect to the unentered item according to an input made by a user to correct the image data.

An image forming apparatus is provided. the apparatus comprises a sheet feeding unit to supply a plurality of types of sheets; an image forming unit to form an image on a sheet; a detection unit to detect an image formed on the sheet; and a controller that causes correction information for each sheet type to be saved in a storage, and under set conditions, causes a specified type of sheet to be supplied by the sheet feeding unit, causes a chart for gradation correction to be formed by the image forming unit, and causes the correction information to be generated based on image information for which the formed chart for gradation correction was detected by the detection unit, and saves the correction information in the storage.

A streak intensity signal quantitatively showing intensity of a streak for a position in a second direction intersecting with the first direction is created for each of the local regions. A position of a streak-like signal is detected by using each of at least one of T thresholds, where T is 1 or more. Presence or absence of a streak is determined for a position in accordance with the number of times of detection for each of thresholds in a local region group composed of two or more local regions connecting in the first direction. The number of times of detection required for determining that there is a streak for at least one of the thresholds is two or more.

An apparatus includes a reduction unit configured to perform color reduction processing for quantizing a color in the generated image data, a change unit configured to change, in a case where brightness of an edge pixel indicating an edge portion in an image based on the image data with the color quantized is equal to or higher than a threshold value, a pixel value of the edge pixel to a pixel value of a color of a pixel having highest brightness among pixels surrounding the edge pixel, and change, in a case where the brightness of the edge pixel is lower than the threshold value, the pixel value of the edge pixel to a pixel value of a color of a pixel having lowest brightness among the pixels surrounding the edge pixel.

An image processing apparatus generates image data used in printing an image on a sheet being attachable to skin. The image processing apparatus includes: an image acquirer that acquires a skin image picked up from the skin; an image analyzer that extracts, from the skin image, a discolored region differing in color from surrounding skin by at least a predetermined level, and surrounding color being color of the skin surrounding the discolored region; a grouping processor that groups a plurality of the discolored regions, and determines an inclusive region for each region group which is a cluster of the grouped plurality of discolored regions or one discolored region not having been grouped, to include the one or a plurality of the region groups; and a printing controller that generates image data having a content of printing a pigment material that causes color of the inclusive region to approximate the surrounding color, on a region corresponding to the inclusive region in the sheet.

Disclosed herein is an integrated lamp and an OCR device adapted to be connected to a personal computer (PC) defining an OCR apparatus. The apparatus includes a lamp for illuminating a work space. The lamp is powered by an electrical bus. And, the lamp is adapted to receive an OCR device, which shares the electrical bus and is powered by the same. The OCR device is embedded in the lamp. The OCR device scans documents on the work space and creates optical data. The digital controller is also embedded in the lamp. The digital controller converts the optical data into digital data and sends the digital data to the PC.

There is provided with an information processing apparatus. A first obtaining unit obtains data of a reference image indicating a target of printing output to be performed by a printing apparatus. A second obtaining unit obtains data of an image printed by the printing apparatus. A correcting unit corrects a local image density difference or the reference image based on a global image density difference between the reference image and the printed image. An evaluating unit evaluates quality of the printed image based on the local image density difference between the corrected reference image and the printed image.

A method for testing the reliability of an error detection of an image inspection method by using a computer includes producing a defective test image by superposing specific error elements on an error-free reference image, carrying out the image inspection method with the defective test image, comparing the errors found by the image inspection method with the error set to be expected with the aid of the known errors added to the test image, and evaluating the reliability of the image inspection method with the aid of the difference between found and expected errors.

At the time of registering an image in units of documents, which is obtained by performing multi-cropping processing for a scanned image, and value information extracted from each image in a database in association with each other, there is a case where it is not possible to extract the value information successfully because of an overlap between documents during a scan. In a case where this fact is noticed after registration, it becomes necessary for a user to perform the entire work from the beginning. In a case where there is a possibility that the value information is hidden by an overlap between documents during a scan or the like, a display is produced for prompting a user to scan the document again.

An image forming system generates reference data based on a result of reading an image on the first surface of the first sheet on which a first image is not formed, generates first image data that represents a result of reading an image on the first surface of the first sheet having the first image formed on the first surface, and determines, based on the reference data and the first image data, a relative position between the first image and the second image on the first surface of the first sheet.
