Method and apparatus for simplified device data collection
A system and method for managed device data collection includes a data collector controller for control of monitoring activity of networked multifunction peripherals. A user interface includes a display rendering a plurality of processor rendered interactive user configuration screens. Displayed configuration screens solicit and receive corresponding user input. The configuring screens facilitate setting device user interaction including setting a network address, network connectivity testing, modification of device certificates, changing network settings, and a testing discovery, registration or data transfer mechanism for multifunction peripheral device data collection. A data storage stores user selection data received via rendered configuration screens and the processor outputs stored user selection data as configuration data for data collection from the multifunction peripherals.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATICALLY RESUMING A PRINT JOB FROM PORTABLE MEMORY DEVICE
A document printing system may include one or more print devices, each is capable of detecting a portable memory device, and also detecting a document file and associated configuration file stored in the portable memory device, where the configuration file may contain information about an interruption of a print job associated with the document file. The interruption may have occurred previously on any of the print devices. Each print device may extract and use the information from the configuration file, to automatically resume the previously interrupted print job. Each print device may also be capable of detecting an interruption of a current print job and recording information about the interruption in the configuration file stored in the portable memory device. In some embodiments, the information about the interruption of the print job may include a page number, cause of the interruption and/or job attributes of the interrupted print job.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSISING PARTS OF A PRINTING DEVICE TO BE REPLACED BASED ON INCIDENT RATE
A method to diagnosis an electro-mechanical part on an image forming device comprises: determining an incident count for a first time interval for the electro-mechanical part; determining if the incident count for the first time interval exceeds a first threshold level; marking the incident count as a high rate if the incident count exceeds the first threshold level; marking the incident count as a low rate if the incident count is more than 0 but equal to or less than the first threshold level; marking the incident count as a zero rate if the incident count is equal to 0; monitoring the electro-mechanical part for a second time interval, wherein the second time interval is a plurality of first time intervals; cumulating a number of first time intervals with the low rate during the second time intervals; and marking the electro-mechanical part as needing to be one of repaired or serviced when the number of first time intervals with the low rate during the second time intervals exceeds a second threshold level.
Methods and systems for managing authentication devices coupled to multi-function devices
The disclosure discloses methods and systems for managing an authentication device such as a card reader coupled to a multi-function device. The multi-function device includes a memory for storing information related to one or more users, one or more pre-authorized users and alert setting instructions. The multi-function device includes an authentication device, coupled to a universal serial bus peripheral port of the device, and configured for: receiving authentication information from a user via an input method. The multi-function device further includes a control system configured for authenticating the user to access the multi-function device for one or more functions, based on the authentication information. The control system is further configured for generating an alert for the one or more pre-authorized users when the authentication device is disconnected or is malfunctioned, and for transmitting the alert to the one or more pre-authorized users, for one or more pre-defined actions.
Recording device including medium tray having a first and second region
A recording device includes a recording unit configured to perform recording on media, a main body provided with the recording unit, and a medium accommodation unit configured to be attached to and detached from the main body and configured to accommodate the media, wherein the medium accommodation unit includes a first region configured to accommodate a pre-recording medium before being subjected to recording by the recording unit, and a second region configured to accommodate a recorded medium after being subjected to the recording by the recording unit.
IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND NON-TRANSITORY RECORDING MEDIUM
An image forming device, includes: a body that processes a print job and discharges a printing sheet; a post-processing device that may be connected or detached from the body, and a hardware processor. The hardware processor performs: determining whether or not a sheet type indicated by the print job may be post-processed by the post-processing device; guiding a user to detach the post-processing device from the body when the sheet type indicated by the print job may not be post-processed by the post-processing device; detecting a distance between the post-processing device and the body when the post-processing device is detached from the body; and allowing a processing of print job when the detected distance is greater than an interval that enables the processing of the print job if the sheet type indicated by the print job may not be post-processed by the post-processing device.
