PRINTER WITH SPECTROPHOMETRIC MEASUREMENT
Printing with a first print engine on a front side of a substrate, and a second print engine on the rear side of the substrate, wherein a first spectrophotometer sensor and a second spectrophotometer sensor are used for spectrophotometric measurements on the blank front and rear sides of the substrate, and producing correction data which represent a deviation of the spectrum representing output signals from the first and second sensors, and wherein a correction derived from the correction data compensates a deviation in the spectral reflectivity of at least one of the front side and the rear side of the substrate. Cross-calibrating the first and second sensors is by processing the spectrum representing output signals of the sensors from identical spectrophotometric measurements.
Image forming apparatus, type information processing method of recording medium, and program for identifying a cause of failure
An image forming apparatus includes: a first hardware processor that receives setting of a type of a recording medium by a user; a detector that detects a type determination parameter for a recording medium including a recording medium for which setting of a type has been received by the first hardware processor; a second hardware processor that determines a type of a recording medium based on a detection result of the detector; an image former that forms an image on the recording medium; and a third hardware processor that transmits, to an external device, at least two pieces of information of information regarding the type received, information regarding the type determined by the second hardware processor, or information regarding matching or mismatching of the type received and the type determined with respect to the recording medium for which setting of a type has been received by the first hardware processor.
Image forming apparatus to verify printed image with master image, image forming method, and storage medium
An image printed on a recording sheet is read, and the read image is displayed on a display unit. An instruction to use the displayed image as a correct answer image is accepted, and an image generated from the image that the instruction to use is accepted is registered as the correct answer image. A printed image is verified by comparing the printed image with the registered correct answer image.
System and method for metallic object detection in a media transport system
A system and method of detecting the presence of metallic objects in media to be conveyed in a medium transport system is disclosed. One or more metal detectors are included in the medium transport system to detect the presence of metal in the medium being transported. Signals from the metal detectors are sent to a system processor, which analyzes the signals, and produces proximity, duration, and/or intensity values therefrom. One or more microphones may also be included which detect the sound created as the medium is being transported. The processor computes sound values from the microphone signals, and analyzes the computed sound values along with the proximity, duration, and/or intensity values in order determine if the conveyance of the medium along the transport path should be stopped due to the presence of metal in the media or a jam occurring within the medium transport path.

IMAGE READING APPARATUS
The image reading apparatus according to the present invention includes an original conveyor configured to convey an original, and a first image reader, which includes a first light transmitting member, and is configured to read, through the first light transmitting member, an image on a first surface of the original conveyed by the original conveyor. A fluorine-containing organic compound coating is applied in a first region on a surface of the first light transmitting member to be brought into contact with the first surface of the original. A conductive resin sheet is provided in a second region that is positioned on an upstream side in a conveying direction of the original with respect to the first region on the surface of the first light transmitting member. The conductive resin sheet is electrically connected to a grounded metal portion of the image reading apparatus.
Systems and methods for detecting transparent media in printers
A printer that includes systems for detecting transparent medium may include a medium dispenser for transporting print medium along a transport pathway to a print station which receives the print medium. Transmitters and receivers may be positioned on opposite sides of the transport pathway for scanning the print medium with a light beam. The sensor arrangement may be configured to detect deflection of the light beam when a transparent print medium is transported on the transport pathway between the transmitter and the receiver. The results of the scan may be communicated to a controller to facilitate proper print settings.
INSPECTION APPARATUS AND INSPECTION PROGRAM
An inspection apparatus for inspecting printed matter on which an image is formed, includes: a region extractor that extracts a first region, in which a character is formed, and a second region, in which the character is not formed, with reference to image forming image data used to form the image; and a defect detector that detects a defect in the first region and a defect in the second region in read image data obtained by reading the printed matter on which the image is formed by the image forming image data, wherein the defect detector includes: a first region defect detector that detects loss of a dot in the first region in the read image data; and a second region defect detector that detects presence of a dot with a density equal to or greater than a predetermined density in the second region in the read image data.
Image formation apparatus, image formation system and management apparatus configured to perform image quality verification and adjustment
An image formation apparatus includes: an image formation unit that forms an image based on a job; and a control unit that controls the image formation unit, the control unit having an image quality verification/adjustment function to compare an image quality of the scanned image and a predetermined image quality standard, and to carry out an image quality adjustment such that the image quality of the image is within an allowable range of the predetermined image quality standard when the image quality of the scanned image is not within the allowable range, the control unit comparing a required image quality for the job and the predetermined image quality standard before a carrying-out procedure to carry out the image quality verification/adjustment function before execution of the job as necessary, and deciding whether the image for the job satisfies the required image quality by the image quality verification/adjustment function.
PAPER TYPE IDENTIFICATION APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A paper type identification apparatus includes a passage configured to allow a sheet to be manually inserted thereinto, a reading sensor configured to read a surface of the sheet inserted into the passage and a controller configured to output a notification after reading a first surface of the sheet by the reading sensor. The notification is a notification to urge a user to read a second surface opposite to the first surface of the sheet by the reading sensor, and determine a type of the sheet based on a reading result of the first surface by the reading sensor and a reading result of the second surface by the reading sensor.
