An image forming apparatus forms an image on a print medium, and the image forming apparatus includes: a storage that stores medium information including profile information corresponding to the print medium and attribute information of the print medium; and a medium detection sensor that detects attribute actual information of the print medium; wherein the medium information is configured such that the profile information corresponding to the print medium is associated with the attribute information of the print medium, and the attribute information or the print medium includes information detectable by the medium detection sensor.

An inclination detecting device includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to detect, in image information that is an image of an object imaged by an imaging device at an imaging position where a background member forms a background, a first boundary between the background member and a shadow of the object; detect a second boundary between the object and the shadow of the object in the image information; and detect an inclination of the object in the image information from the first boundary and the second boundary detected by the processing circuitry.

An inspection apparatus for inspecting printed matter on which an image is formed, includes: a region extractor that extracts a first region, in which a character is formed, and a second region, in which the character is not formed, with reference to image forming image data used to form the image; and a defect detector that detects a defect in the first region and a defect in the second region in read image data obtained by reading the printed matter on which the image is formed by the image forming image data, wherein the defect detector includes: a first region defect detector that detects loss of a dot in the first region in the read image data; and a second region defect detector that detects presence of a dot with a density equal to or greater than a predetermined density in the second region in the read image data.

The present invention provides an image forming apparatus and a malfunction diagnosis method of the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus stores a diagnosis target of a malfunction in association with a diagnostic item corresponding to the diagnosis target, and in a case where an abnormality is detected, the apparatus specifies the diagnosis target corresponding to the abnormality, executes a malfunction diagnosis process in accordance with the stored diagnostic item in association with the specified diagnosis target, and displays information regarding a malfunction parts determined to be a malfunction by the malfunction diagnosis process. The apparatus executes a malfunction diagnosis processes of a different type depending on whether or not a sheet remaining in the image forming apparatus is detected.

An information processing apparatus includes a receiver and a controller. The receiver receives an image. The controller controls a state in a real space based on information included in the received image. In a further modification of the invention, the controller may move a position of the information processing apparatus according to an arrangement of the information processing apparatus in the image.

An image forming device includes: an image forming unit that forms an image on a transfer medium in accordance with a JOB; and a controller that controls the image forming unit. The controller is capable of acquiring a read image obtained by reading the image on the transfer medium, and determining failure/no-failure in the image on the transfer medium in accordance with the read image. An example system includes a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored therein instructions that are executable to cause the system to perform various functions. The functions include, for each sample print of a plurality of sample prints, receiving respective color-measurement data indicative of color measurement patches printed on the sample print. The functions also include determining, using the respective color-measurement data for the sample prints, a respective color gamut volume for each sample print. Further, the functions include ordering the sample prints in order of increasing color gamut volume using the respective color gamut volumes for the sample prints. Still further, the functions include providing for display a presentation order for the sample prints, with the sample prints of the plurality of sample prints being arranged in order of increasing color gamut volume.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image former that performs image forming processing to a plurality of sheets included in each of a plurality of sheet groups; and a hardware processor that detects occurrence of a jam, wherein the image former completes the image forming processing to each of the plurality of sheets included in a sheet group not including a jammed sheet that has generated the jam.

Provided is an image reading apparatus, including: a reading unit configured to read an original image of an original placed on an original table for each line in a main scanning direction; and a control unit. The control unit is configured to derive, from the original image read for a predetermined number of lines by the reading unit, a luminance difference value between luminance values of two pixels each separated by a first distance from a pixel of interest that is located at a predetermined position in the main scanning direction, and a difference value between a maximum luminance value and a minimum luminance value of pixels within a range of a second distance, which is larger than the first distance, from the pixel of interest.
