Systems and methods for the virtualization, aggregation, enhancement, and distributed processing of facsimile communications. The Remote FAX Interconnect known as etherFAX is a system and method that allows for the reception and delivery of information to or from one or more facsimile systems using Internet/web based communication protocols such as HTTP(S) as the transport between a cooperating facsimile capable application or hardware and the remotely accessible etherFAX services.

A printing apparatus includes a subunit including a plurality of installation racks in each of which a consumable member can be installed, and a main unit configured to receive supply from the consumable member installed in the subunit and perform printing, comprises: a first acquisition unit configured to acquire relative position information between the subunit and the consumable member using a signal of short distance wireless communication transmitted from the subunit; and a determination unit configured to determine, based on the relative position information acquired by the first acquisition unit, whether the consumable member exists at a position corresponding to a predetermined installation rack of the plurality of installation racks.

An image forming apparatus, to which terminals are connected, comprises an image forming unit, a detector that detects an error, and a controller that, when the error is detected, specifies a portable terminal through which an operation to eliminate the error is requested, transmits a request to the specified terminal, and transmits a notification that notifies of an occurrence of the error to each terminal other than the specified terminal. The terminal that has received the request displays information representing an error type and information promoting an elimination of the error, and the terminal that has received the notification displays not the information that promotes the elimination of the error, but the information representing the error type.

Embodiments of systems and methods for the sending, delivery and receiving of faxes are disclosed herein. In particular, certain embodiments include a fax connector that may be deployed at a user's site, and a faxing system that may be deployed remotely from the user's site. The fax connector can be accessed at the user's site over a computer based network in order to perform functions associated with faxing, including sending, receiving and obtaining status on faxes. The fax connector deployed at the user's site communicates with the remotely deployed faxing system to send, receive, obtain status on, or perform other functions associated with, faxing.

Apparatus, systems and techniques associated with battery powered wireless camera systems are provided. In an example, a system includes a battery powered wireless camera including an internal battery to provide energy and an image capture module to capture images. Further, the battery powered wireless camera includes a low-bandwidth radio transceiver which may wirelessly communicate with a base station and a micro switch, and may receive commands for operation of the battery powered wireless camera. The battery powered wireless camera also includes a high-bandwidth radio transceiver which may wirelessly communicate with the base station. If the high-bandwidth radio transceiver is powered down, the image capture module may store captured images. If the micro switch triggers activation, the high-bandwidth radio transceiver may power up and transmit the captured images to the base station. In an example, the low-bandwidth radio transceiver may wirelessly communicate with the base station over a low-bandwidth radio link.

In one example, a system is disclosed, which may include a recognition unit to obtain a user profile from a mobile device via a short-range wireless communication between the mobile device and the multi-functional device. Further, the system may include a retrieving unit to retrieve usage history associated with the user profile. Furthermore, the system may include a configuration unit to temporarily configure operational settings for the multi-functional device based on the usage history.

An image processing apparatus for reading a document to generate image data using a reading unit performs, receiving a job including a document reading-and-transmission job for causing the reading unit to read a document to generate image data and then transmitting the image data to a specified destination, from an information processing apparatus communicable via a network, storing the received job, displaying a list of the stored jobs in response to a user instruction, displaying a confirmation screen related to transmission setting contents of a document reading-and-transmission job selected from the list of jobs, and executing, in a case where execution of the selected document reading-and-transmission job is instructed via the confirmation screen, the document reading-and-transmission job.

An image display system is configured such that an image display device and an image processing device are connected to each other through a network. The image display device is provided with: an instruction information generation unit for generating instruction information pertaining to image-processing to be performed on an image input signal; an image signal transmission unit for transmitting the instruction information to the image processing device; a corrected signal reception unit for receiving a corrected image input signal obtained through image-processing performed by the image processing device on the basis of the instruction information; and a display signal output unit for outputting an image output signal based on the corrected image input signal, to an object where an image is to be displayed. The image processing device receives the image input signal connected through the network and performs image-processing on the image input signal according to the instruction information.

A data processing apparatus is configured to perform a specific processing operation in accordance with data transmitted from an external device. The data processing apparatus includes a communication interface, an operation receiving portion, and processing circuitry. The communication interface is configured to receive the data from the external device via a communication line. The operation receiving portion is configured to receive an operation for instructing execution of the processing operation from the external device. The processing circuitry is configured to execute data processing for executing the processing operation in accordance with the operation, perform determination on whether a state of the data processing apparatus is suitable for continuing the data processing, and output determination result information to the external device in accordance with the determination and the operation. The determination result information includes information on content of the determination.
