In one embodiment, an exercise cycle includes a crankshaft, cranks mounted to the crankshaft, a drive mechanism including a ferromagnetic flywheel that rotates in response to rotation of the crankshaft, and a non-contact force adjustment mechanism with which a force required to rotate the flywheel can be adjusted, the force adjustment mechanism including a pivotable member to which magnets are mounted, wherein the magnets can be moved closer to the flywheel when the pivotable member is pivoted toward the flywheel to increase the force required to rotate the flywheel and can be moved farther away from the flywheel when the pivotable member is pivoted away from the flywheel to decrease the force required to rotate the flywheel.

Wearable assistance devices and methods of operation

Wearable assistance devices and methods of operating the same are provided. A wearable assistance device includes an upper-body interface with a front side and a rear side and a lower-body interface with a front side and a rear side. The assistance device also includes one or more elastic members, each of the elastic members mechanically coupling the upper-body interface to the lower-body interface and extending from the rear side of the upper-body interface to the rear side of the lower-body interface and along a back of the user so as to provide an assistive force parallel to the back of the user. Further, the assistance device also includes a clutch mechanism associated with each one of the elastic members, the clutch mechanism configured for selectively adjusting the assistive force provided by the one of the elastic members.

A cross country skiing exercise machine is disclosed. The machine has ski members slidingly mounted to a base frame and front and rear arm exercise units mounted towards the front and rear of the base frame, respectively. The front arm exercise unit has a front pair of flexible lines to be gripped by a user's hands to permit the user to reciprocally pull back on said front pair of flexible lines. The rear arm exercise unit has a rear pair of flexible lines having straps configured to be attached to the user's arms to permit the user to reciprocally pull forward on the rear pair of flexible lines. The front and rear arm exercise units are configured to apply a drag force to the front and rear pair of flexible lines, respectively. A rear leg exercise unit having flexible lines for mounting to the user's legs is also provided.

The seat assembly may comprise a stop configured to inhibit movement of the seat, and may further comprise a biasing element that is biased to disengage the stop.
