In processing, the user identification device is adapted to identify a user of the apparatus. Also, a user interface is operatively connected to the processor. In such processing, the processor is adapted to select a communication format from a plurality of communication formats based on the user identified by the user identification device. With the processing, the processor is also adapted to control the user interface to communicate with the user using the selected communication format.

An audio-based operation system includes an audio input-output device that receives an audio-based operation performed by a user, a server that receives an instruction corresponding the audio-based operation received by the audio input-output device, an image forming apparatus that executes a job transmitted from the server. The server includes circuitry configured to receive audio-based operation information indicating the audio-based operation received by the audio input-output device, convert the received audio-based operation information into a job interpretable by the image forming apparatus, and instruct the image forming apparatus to execute the job converted from the audio-based operation information.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a machine translation processing unit, a speech synthesis processing unit, and a processor. The image forming unit is configured to print image data. The machine translation processing unit is configured to acquire translated text data as a result of machine translation processing based on untranslated text data generated from a scanned document image. The speech synthesis processing unit is configured to generate speech data based on the translated text data. The processor determines whether to execute printing or generate speech data based on a preset setting of output method, when executing printing, generates translation document image data based on the translated text data and the document image and causes the image forming unit to print the translation document image data, and when generating speech data, causes the speech synthesis processing unit to execute speech synthesis processing.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a machine translation processing unit, a speech synthesis processing unit, and a processor. The image forming unit is configured to print image data. The machine translation processing unit is configured to acquire translated text data as a result of machine translation processing based on untranslated text data generated from a scanned document image. The speech synthesis processing unit is configured to generate speech data based on the translated text data. A server apparatus, a voice operation system, and a voice operation method, each of which: acquires, from an image forming apparatus, a language type of a display language used for display at the image forming apparatus; stores the language type of the display language; acquires, from a speaker, voice operation that instructs to change the display language; identifies a language type of a targeted language based on the voice operation; and determines whether the language type of the display language matches the language type of the targeted language. Based on a determination that the language type of the display language does not match the language type of the targeted language, the server apparatus instructs the image forming apparatus to change from the language type of the display language to the language type of the targeted language. Based on a determination that the language type of the display language matches the language type of the targeted language, the server apparatus disregards the instruction to change the language type of the display language of the image forming apparatus.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to perform control to initialize an item having a set value related to process execution and displaying if a first operation for initializing the item is performed. The item to be initialized is decided depending on whether an authentication state is an authenticated state where a user is authenticated or an unauthenticated state where the user is unauthenticated.

An image forming apparatus includes a setup unit, a language identification unit, and a controller. Currently-displayed language information indicating a language currently displayed on the display unit is obtained when the language switching button is selected by the user. When the language switching button is selected by the user, the display language on the display unit is switched to one of the plurality of languages associated with the language switching button and different from a language currently displayed on the display unit.

An information processing device capable of executing at least one function: displays an icon selection screen displaying an icon including an image indicating the function and a name of the function; accepts selection of the icon through the displayed icon selection screen; executes processing of the function corresponding to the icon, in accordance with the acceptance of the icon: and switches a language used for display of the name of the icon on the icon selection screen to a different language every predetermined time.
