An image forming apparatus that prevents generation of correction data without setting a proper test original. A mat is closed for pressing an original on a platen. A printer forms an image based on image data. A CPU controls the printer to form a pattern on a sheet, controls a CCD sensor to acquire read data concerning an image of the original, according to user instruction for the CCD sensor to read the original, and generates the correction condition based on the read data. When user instruction is given, if the open state of the mat is not changed to the closed state, the CPU displays a screen prompting the user to place the sheet on the platen.

In an image processing system, a multifunction printer carries out image reading or printing in accordance with processing execution condition information stored in a storage apparatus of a host PC. A storage apparatus of a client PC stores processing execution condition information. In a case where the client PC is connected to the host PC via the network, a control apparatus transmits the processing execution condition information stored in the storage apparatus to the host PC. The host PC stores the received processing execution condition information in the storage apparatus.

A remote management system includes an information processing apparatus and an electronic apparatus. A second controller of the information processing apparatus detects communication speed between the information processing apparatus and the electronic apparatus, and transmits, when the communication speed drops to a predetermined level, a second instruction for reducing a data amount of a first input screen, from a second communication device to the electronic apparatus. A first controller of the electronic apparatus reduces the data amount of the first input screen to a predetermined amount, when a first communication device receives the second instruction, and transmits a second input screen having the reduced data amount, from the first communication device to the information processing apparatus. The second controller causes, when the second communication device receives the second input screen transmitted from the electronic apparatus, a second display device to display the second input screen received.

According to an embodiment, an information processing system includes a device, and a service providing system. The device includes predetermined functions. The service providing system executes an application having execution order of programs defined therefor so as to execute a processing flow using one or more of the predetermined functions. The service providing system includes a management unit, and a screen configuring unit. The management unit generates application information having metadata information and the application associated with each other, the metadata information being associated with a user who uses the application and used when the application is executed. The screen configuring unit generates, when the application is executed, based on the application information, a user interface that receives setup operation related to metadata corresponding to the metadata information in the application.

The image forming apparatus further includes circuitry configured to: set, for each of the plurality of functions, restriction information indicating whether or not to restrict use of the function; and control, in a screen including icons each for starting a corresponding one of the plurality of applications, a display state of each of the icons of the applications based on the restriction information set by the circuitry for the function associated with the application by the first information.
