Provided is a device housing made of materials containing at least an electrically conductive material, an image reading device, and an electrostatic capacitance detection device that can achieve electrical connection with a relatively small space while preventing deformation of the device housing. The device housing includes a housing made of materials containing at least an electrically conductive material and including an electrically conductive surface in at least part of the surface of the housing, a ground conductor being present on a plane different from the plane including the electrically conductive surface, and a ground auxiliary conductor disposed over a level difference existing between the plane including the electrically conductive surface and the plane including the ground conductor. The ground auxiliary conductor is an electrically conductive sheet to connect the electrically conductive surface to the ground conductor electrically.

A reading apparatus, having a platen glass, a document cover, a conveyer, a reading sensor, a document supporting member, a pressing plate, and a linkage assembly, is provided. The document cover is movable between an open position and a closed position. The document supporting member is movable between a first position, where the document supporting member faces a reading surface of the reading sensor, and a second position, where the document supporting member is separated from the reading surface. The pressing plate is movable between a third position, where the pressing plate is attached to a lower side of the document cover, and a fourth position, where the pressing plate is removed from the lower side. The linkage assembly moves the document supporting member from the first position to the second position in conjunction with the pressing member moving from the third position to the fourth position.

A metal frame of an image forming apparatus includes a first support which includes a first metal plate and a second metal plate; a second support configured to support the image forming unit together with the first support; and a third support configured to connect the first support and the second support, wherein the first metal plate includes a corner portion provided between a first portion and a second portion, wherein the second metal plate includes a third portion, a fourth portion, and a fifth portion, wherein the fifth portion includes another corner portion located between a first stretched portion and a second stretched portion facing the corner portion of the first metal plate, and wherein a tip of the second stretched portion faces the fourth portion.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a recording material, a controller configured to control the image forming unit, a sheet feeding tray configured to store a recording material to be supplied to the image forming unit, and a sheet feeding tray cover configured to cover an access point of the sheet feeding tray. The sheet feeding tray cover includes a user interface for inputting information into a controller unit or outputting information from the controller.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an image reading unit disposed on the image forming unit, a first control circuit board mounted on the image reading unit, a second control circuit board mounted on the image forming unit, a flexible flat cable, a slit, and a regulating member. The flexible flat cable transfers image data from the first control circuit board to the second control circuit board and has one end connected to the first control circuit board and another end connected to the second control circuit board. The slit is formed in the image forming unit such that the flexible flat cable passes through. The regulating member regulates a length of the flexible flat cable between the slit and the second connector, is attached at a predetermined position of the flexible flat cable, and abuts against the image forming unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a document sheet conveying device, a cable, a shielding member, a protrusion, and a guide member. The housing accommodates a document sheet reading device that reads a document sheet. The document sheet conveying device is coupled to an upper surface of the housing with a hinge, and conveys the document sheet along a conveyance path passing through a scanning position of the document sheet reading device. The cable electrically connects a circuit board accommodated in the housing to the document sheet conveying device. The shielding member surrounds the circuit board and includes an opening portion through which the cable passes. The protrusion is formed in the cable. The guide member has an annular groove portion in which the protrusion is displaceable in a circumferential direction of the cable, and is fitted into the opening portion.

A support device is applied to support a contact image sensor of an image capture apparatus, which includes a guide rod. The support device includes a slide sleeve and an elastic rod. The slide sleeve, which has a groove, is movably disposed on the guide rod, and a portion of the guide rod is accommodated within the groove. The elastic rod is disposed on the slide sleeve to directly support the contact image sensor. The elastic rod abuts against the contact image sensor, so that the contact image sensor is pushed upwardly, and the contact image sensor is stably kept in the same direction while the slide sleeve is slid on the guide rod. Therefore, the entirety of the support device can achieve the advantages of stably supporting the contact image sensor in balance without using any sliding bracket.

An image reading apparatus for reading image information from a sheet includes a cover unit, a sheet feeding member, a conveying guide, and a reading unit including a transparent member and a reading portion. The cover unit is rotatable between a closed position where the cover unit forms a sheet conveying passage in cooperation with the conveying guide and an open position where the sheet conveying passage is open. In a state in which the cover unit is positioned in the closed position, the transparent member is exposed to an outside of the image reading apparatus by rotation of the conveying guide and the reading unit.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a casing, an image reading portion, a first controller substrate provided on one of side surfaces of the casing, a second controller substrate provided on the side surface, wherein a component mounting surface of the second controller substrate is in a non-overlapping position with a component mounting surface of the first controller substrate, an electric wire configured to connect the first controller portion and the image reading portion, and a shielding member fixed to the casing so as to be provided between the electric wire and the second controller substrate and configured to shield electromagnetic radiation from the second controller substrate toward the electric wire.

A power switching device for switching power between translational motion and rotational motion includes an active gear, a transmission mechanism, a translation mechanism, a functional gear, and a reset mechanism. The active gear can rotate in a first direction or a second direction opposite the first direction. The translation mechanism includes a runner and a pushing member. The active gear can switch between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the active gear meshes with the runner and rotates in the first direction or the second direction to drive the runner to rotate. In the second position, the active gear meshes with the transmission gear and rotates in the second direction to drive the functional gear to rotate.
