An extended operation device mountable to and demountable from an apparatus body includes an extended operation device body, an operation device, and a pair of insertion portions. The pair of insertion portions extend in a first direction parallel to an operation surface of the operation device with respect to the extended operation device body. One insertion portion and the other insertion portion of the pair of insertion portions are provided on one side and the other side, respectively, of the extended operation device body with respect to a central position of the extended operation device body in a second direction that is parallel to the operation surface of the operation device and intersects the first direction. The pair of insertion portions are inserted into a pair of insertion holes provided in the apparatus body to mount the extended operation device to the apparatus body.

A medium-discharging device includes: a device main body including a medium-discharging section that discharges a medium; a medium-receiving tray that receives the medium discharged by the medium-discharging section; and a pressing member that is configured to be attached to and detached from to the device main body and presses the medium discharged by the medium-discharging section against the medium-receiving tray in a state in which the pressing member is attached to the device main body, in which the pressing member is configured to switch, in the state in which the pressing member is attached to the device main body, between a first state in which the pressing member comes into contact with the medium-receiving tray and a second state in which the pressing member retreats upward so as to be apart from the medium-receiving tray.

A recording apparatus includes a recording unit and a document reading unit. The recording unit includes a shaft, and the document reading unit includes a groove forming member. In the groove, an elastically deformable portion configured to make the width of the groove narrower than a maximum diameter of the shaft The shaft has a shape in which a radial dimension changes along a circumferential direction and is provided so as to rotate, and when the elastically deformable portion passes through the shaft in the process of opening the document reading unit from the closed state, the rotation of the shaft is regulated such that the radial dimension of the shaft with respect to the width of the groove is equal to or less than a first dimension smaller than the maximum dimension.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an image reading unit disposed on the image forming unit, a first control circuit board mounted on the image reading unit, a second control circuit board mounted on the image forming unit, a flexible flat cable, a slit, and a regulating member. The flexible flat cable transfers image data from the first control circuit board to the second control circuit board and has one end connected to the first control circuit board and another end connected to the second control circuit board. The slit is formed in the image forming unit such that the flexible flat cable passes through. The regulating member regulates a length of the flexible flat cable between the slit and the second connector, is attached at a predetermined position of the flexible flat cable, and abuts against the image forming unit.

An example of an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a mounting mechanism to engage with a portable computing device. The portable computing device is to rest on a surface. The apparatus also includes a camera connected to the mounting mechanism. The camera is to scan an area on the surface. In addition, the apparatus includes a projection unit connected to the mounting mechanism, wherein the projection unit is to project an image on the surface. The apparatus includes a communication interface in communication with the camera and the projection unit. The communication interface is to communicate with the portable computing device.

A medium feeding device includes: a medium mounting section onto which a medium to be fed is mounted; a feeding unit that feeds the medium mounted on the medium mounting section; and a supporting member that supports an end in a width direction of the medium mounted on the medium mounting section and that supports the medium at a higher position than the medium mounting section in a direction of loading of the medium, the width direction being a direction crossing a feed direction.

A reading device includes a body having a base on which a read target object is placed, a reader that reads the read target object placed on the base, a first attachment frame to which the reader is attached such that the reader is disposed above the base, an operation unit that is used for operating the device by touching, a second attachment frame to which the operation unit is attached such that the operation unit is disposed above the base and below the reader, and a body frame to which at least the first attachment frame is attached. An image reading apparatus in which tilt is suppressed when inserting a flexible flat cable into a connector mounted on a circuit board on which an image sensor is also mounted. The flexible flat cable transmits an image signal output from the image sensor to a controller, and is inserted into the connector for electrically connecting the image sensor with the controller. The circuit board is fixed by adhesive to a carriage. The connector is mounted at an end portion of the circuit board in a first direction which is a main scanning direction. A thickness direction of the circuit board is a second direction, and a third direction is orthogonal to the first and second directions. The flexible flat cable is inserted into the connector along the third direction, and the adhesive is filled between a surface at the end portion of the circuit board and an opposing wall portion of the carriage, wherein the surface extends in the first and second directions.
