The image processing apparatus 1 calculates the lengths of the sides of each of the front and back sides of a recording sheet by detecting the intersection points of the surrounding edges of the recording sheet with reference to the image data of the each of the front and back sides. A magnification error is calculated based on the lengths of the sides corresponding between the front and back sides. A correction amount is then calculated based on the calculated magnification error in order to make the lengths of each side match each other. Displacement amounts of the positions of the patterns is obtained after correction based on the correction amount.
