Printed Vote Record Systems, Retrofit Automatic Document Feeders And Methods To Transfer A Printed Vote Record Sheet From A Legacy Printer To A Legacy Scanner Without Human Intervention
20230196861 · 2023-06-22 ·

Embodiments of systems and methods are disclosed herein to transfer a printed election sheet from a printer to a scanner, which is separate and distinct from the printer, without human intervention. More specifically, the present disclosure provides a retrofit automatic document feeder (ADF), which may be “retrofit” or adaptively coupled between a printer and a scanner for automatically transferring a printed election sheet output from the printer to the scanner, where it is scanned to generate a scanned image of the printed election sheet. Unlike conventional ADFs incorporated within printers, scanners and multi-function printers, the retrofit ADF disclosed herein is coupled to receive a printed election sheet output from an output port of the printer, advance the printed election sheet away from the output port of printer and automatically transfer the printed election sheet to an input port of the scanner.

An object of the present invention is to output printed matter faithfully reflecting the intension of a user. The present invention is an image forming apparatus that forms an image based on a print job and includes: a printing determination unit configured to determine whether continuous printing of a first print job and a second print job is possible; a determination unit configured to determine, in a case where it is determined that the continuous printing is possible, whether the first print job includes an odd number of pages and both-side printing is set to the first print job and the second print job, respectively; and a control unit configured to perform, in a case where the first print job includes an odd number of pages and both-side printing is set to the first print job and the second print job, respectively, control so as to insert a blank page.

Image Reading Apparatus

A conveying device conveys a sheet selectively along a first conveying path and a second conveying path which are connected at a junction into a common path portion. A reading unit reads an image of a sheet conveyed in the common path portion. A shutter is disposed in the second conveying path at a position upstream of the junction in a sheet conveying direction. The shutter is movable between a first position and a second position. The actuator is disposed in the common path portion and movable between a third position and a fourth position in response to the shutter moving between the first position and the second position, respectively. In a case where a detection sensor detects that the actuator is at the fourth position, a controller controls the conveying device to convey the sheet along the second conveying path.

NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD AND INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS

A non-transitory computer readable medium stores a print control program causing a computer to function as a designation information acquisition unit, a paper feed information acquisition unit, and a designation information changing unit. The designation information acquisition unit acquires designation information indicating a paper feed designation of recording paper and a paper designation from print data that is generated by a printer driver based on the paper feed designation and the paper designation. The paper feed information acquisition unit acquires paper feed information indicating paper information of the recording paper and paper feed configuration of the recording paper mounted on a printing device, from the printing device before the print data is transmitted to the printing device. The designation information changing unit compares the designation information and the paper feed information and changes the designation information when a certain condition is met.

A technique that guarantees update of a program of a finisher unit while preventing a malfunction thereof from being caused by erroneous attachment thereof to a printing apparatus. Hardware identification information is acquired from the finisher unit. When it is determined based on the acquired hardware identification information that the finisher unit is compatible with a program of the apparatus, program identification information is acquired from the optional unit, for determining based thereon whether a program of the finisher unit program is associated with the program of the printing apparatus. If the programs are associated with each other, the versions there are compared. If the versions are not compatible, the program of the finisher unit is updated to a version compatible with the version of the program of the printing apparatus.

Systems and methods relating to document and fastener identification

Method and systems of automated document processing described herein include activating in sequence a plurality of illumination modules of an illumination source to illuminate a document, where the plurality of illumination modules are located at different positions relative to the document. The document can be imaged each time the document is illuminated by an illumination module to provide a plurality of images. A shadow profile of the document can be obtained based on the plurality of images. One or more of a boundary of the document and presence of a fastener attached to the document can be identified using the shadow profile. Any fasteners present may be removed using a robot arm.
