Film transport apparatus controller and related methods
Methods and systems are presented for controlling a film transport apparatus of a film reel scanner. In one embodiment, a system is provided including a line scanning camera, a supply reel motor, a take-up reel motor, and a plurality of capstan motors. A control system may then be configured to receive and dynamically adjust position information from these motors. The control system may then provide the dynamically adjusted position information to a plurality of controllers, which may then generate control signals for the supply reel motor, the take-up reel motor, and the at least a subset of the capstan motors.

An image forming apparatus includes a reader, a wait part, and a processor. The reader reads an image from a first sheet. In the wait part, the first sheet is made to wait. The processor is configured to make the first sheet wait in the wait part after the reading performed by the reader, and, after the first sheet is made to wait in the wait part, output the first sheet and a second sheet continuously. The second sheet records first information determined on the basis of an evaluation result obtained from evaluation of the first sheet.

Conveyance modes include a registration mode accompanied with skew correction and a registrationless mode unaccompanied with skew correction. When a jam occurs, the controller interrupts a job, and invokes blank-feed processing starting from a state with all sheets re-set. On invoking blank-feed processing, the controller checks the conveyance mode and recognizes the number of jams. If the conveyance mode is the registration mode and in addition the number of jams has not reached a threshold number of jams, the controller invokes blank-feed processing in the registrationless mode.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS RELATING TO DOCUMENT AND FASTENER IDENTIFICATION
Method and systems of automated document processing described herein include activating in sequence a plurality of illumination modules of an illumination source to illuminate a document, where the plurality of illumination modules are located at different positions relative to the document. The document can be imaged each time the document is illuminated by an illumination module to provide a plurality of images. A shadow profile of the document can be obtained based on the plurality of images. One or more of a boundary of the document and presence of a fastener attached to the document can be identified using the shadow profile. Any fasteners present may be removed using a robot arm.

In a scanner, a medium transport apparatus includes an apparatus main body including a medium transport path from a supply unit, which supplies a medium, to a discharge unit, which discharges the medium, a switcher that switches an attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to a mounting surface on which the apparatus main body is mounted, and a controller that, when the attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to the mounting surface is switched, performs control in accordance with the attitude after the switching.

The processor is configured to make the first sheet wait in the wait part after the reading performed by the reader, and, after the first sheet is made to wait in the wait part, output the first sheet and a second sheet continuously. The second sheet records first information determined on the basis of an evaluation result obtained from evaluation of the first sheet.
Document reader and control method that reads document medium during transport
A document reader includes a reading unit that reads an image of a document medium, a second driving roller pair that nips and transports the document medium downstream of a read-enabling position of the reading unit, and a control unit that controls rotation of the second driving roller pair. The control unit stops the rotation of the second driving roller pair in a state in which the document medium is not positioned in the read-enabling position and in a state in which the document medium is nipped by the second driving roller pair.
Post-processing apparatus and image forming system
A post-processing apparatus includes a cutting device, one or both of an inclination detector and a side-edge detector, an inclination corrector and a hardware processor. The cutting device cuts a sheet along one or both of a feed direction in which the sheet is conveyed and a cross direction perpendicular to the feed direction. The inclination detector detects a front edge of the sheet in the feed direction at multiple positions in the cross direction. The side-edge detector detects a position of a side edge of the sheet in the cross direction. The inclination corrector performs an inclination correction operation of correcting an inclination of the sheet. The hardware processor causes the cutting device to cut the sheet after causing the inclination corrector to perform the inclination correction operation for an amount of the inclination based on the detection by the inclination detector or the detection by the side-edge detector.
