Provided is an image reading device including: a document pressing portion that is attached to an apparatus body and configured to open or close to the apparatus body to press a document in between; and an opening force applying unit that applies a drive force of a drive source to the document pressing portion as an opening force to open the document pressing portion temporarily in a period of opening the document pressing portion.

A post-processing apparatus includes a cutting device, one or both of an inclination detector and a side-edge detector, an inclination corrector and a hardware processor. The cutting device cuts a sheet along one or both of a feed direction in which the sheet is conveyed and a cross direction perpendicular to the feed direction. The inclination detector detects a front edge of the sheet in the feed direction at multiple positions in the cross direction. The side-edge detector detects a position of a side edge of the sheet in the cross direction. The inclination corrector performs an inclination correction operation of correcting an inclination of the sheet. The hardware processor causes the cutting device to cut the sheet after causing the inclination corrector to perform the inclination correction operation for an amount of the inclination based on the detection by the inclination detector or the detection by the side-edge detector.

In case of simultaneously performing a punching process and a finishing process other than the punching process in an image forming apparatus, in order to prevent an unnecessary (ineffectual) finishing process from being performed, an information processing controller unit of a multifunction peripheral performs control of permitting to set in combination a double-punching center setting and a bookbinding setting, and of prohibiting to set in combination a punch setting, other than the double-punching center setting, and the bookbinding setting.

An image reading apparatus includes a medium mounting portion configured to mount a medium; a feeding means configured to feed a medium from the medium mounting portion; at least one edge guide each configured to regulate a corresponding one of at least one medium width direction edge of the medium having been mounted on the medium mounting portion; a reading means configured to read the medium and disposed on a further downstream side than the at least one edge guide in the medium feeding direction; and at least one medium detection means configured to detect the medium and disposed on a further downstream side than the at least one edge guide in the medium feeding direction and further outside in the medium width direction than at least one edge regulation position for the edge regulation by the at least one edge guide.

A method of controlling an image processing apparatus. The method includes accepting a predetermined instruction for adding a predetermined mark to a first image which is being displayed. The method includes, based on at least one of a non-printing area corresponding to an area on a recording medium where printing is not to be performed and a second image being positioned at the predetermined location when the predetermined instruction is accepted, causing at least one of the first image and the second image to move. The at least one, that was positioned at the predetermined location when the predetermined instruction was accepted, of the non-printing area and the second image is not positioned at the predetermined location after at least one of the first image and the second image has been moved.

An image forming apparatus includes an exit tray, a displacing mechanism, and a controller. A sheet is ejected on the exit tray. The displacing mechanism displaces a position of the sheet on the exit tray. The controller controls the displacing mechanism. The controller determines whether the sheet is a valid sheet that meets a predetermined condition or an invalid sheet that does not meet the predetermined condition. The controller controls the displacing mechanism so that a position of the valid sheet differs from a position of the invalid sheet on the exit tray.

A sheet post-processing apparatus includes a control unit. When performing binding for binding a plurality of sheets a plurality of times continuously, the controller measures the processing time required for the binding during first binding and notifies an image forming apparatus of a post-processing time including the measured processing time.

A lateral slide member includes first locked portions and a second locked portion and is configured to be displaced between a first lock position and a first release position. A vertical slide member includes a second locking portion that restricts the lateral slide member from being displaced from the first lock position to the first release position, the vertical slide member configured to be displaced between a second lock position and a second release position. A swing member includes a contacted portion and a third locking portion. A cover projection portion includes a third locked portion that is locked to the third locking portion and thereby restricts a document sheet cover from moving upward. When a document sheet reading unit is closed, a main body projection portion pushes up the contacted portion to hold the swing member at a third release position, allowing the contacted portion to extend diagonally upward.

An image forming apparatus includes a main unit, a unit coupling part, a document reading unit, and a correction mechanism. The unit coupling part includes a rear side coupling part and a pair of lateral side coupling parts whose rear end portions are coupled to the rear side coupling part. The document reading unit is supported by the unit coupling part in an openable and closable manner. The correction mechanism corrects a position of the pair of lateral side coupling parts with respect to the document reading unit in a facing direction where the lateral side coupling parts face each other, by closing the document reading unit.

A verification apparatus includes a reading unit configured to read an image of a conveyed sheet. The apparatus obtains a reference image for verification of a sheet, and extracts, from the reference image, feature points to be used for alignment of an image with the reference image. The apparatus aligns, with the reference image, a read image obtained by reading an image of a verification target sheet by the reading unit, and verifies the read image by comparing the aligned read image with the reference image. Based on a number of the feature points extracted from the reference image the alignment is performed using positions of the feature points or using positions of sheet vertices each indicating a corner of the sheet.
