A reading method guidance apparatus includes a receiving unit, an acquisition unit, and a guidance unit. The receiving unit receives a document size that is a size of a document as a reading target. The acquisition unit acquires an image of at least a partial area in the document. The guidance unit provides an operator with guidance about a reading procedure when the document is read by a first reading apparatus in plural batches, using a feature amount obtained from the acquired image, the received document size, and a readable size that is a size of an area readable by the first reading apparatus.

In a case in which printing performed by the printer apparatus is stopped and is then restarted, the controller performs control so that a sheet which will protrude from other sheets when being loaded in the loader will be fed from the sheet feeder and be loaded in the loader as a sheet to be inserted to indicate a restart position.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, first and second detectors, and a corrector. The image forming unit includes first and second image forming units disposed downstream of the first unit in a transport direction of a recording medium and causes the first and second units to form predetermined correction images onto the recording medium. The first detector is disposed downstream of the first unit and upstream of the second unit in the transport direction, and detects the correction image formed by the first unit. The second detector is disposed downstream of the second unit in the transport direction and detects the correction image formed by the second unit. The corrector corrects an image position of the second unit in a width direction of the recording medium by using the correction images formed by the first and second units and detected by the first and second detectors.

For example, the method, performed by a processor of a printing device, includes detecting an amount of skew of a paper traveling through a registration system of a printing device, determining that the amount of skew is greater than a predefined threshold, applying an image shear to a digital image that will be printed on the paper, and controlling a plurality of printheads of the printing device to print the digital image on the paper with the image shear that is applied.

A shadow profile of the document can be obtained based on the plurality of images. One or more of a boundary of the document and presence of a fastener attached to the document can be identified using the shadow profile. Any fasteners present may be removed using a robot arm.
