The acquisition unit acquires failure information for the information processing apparatus via a wireless communication line from a management apparatus holding failure information. The power supply unit supplies power to the acquisition unit when the main power supply is not on. The controller exerts control in such a manner that, when the acquisition unit acquires the failure information from the management apparatus in the state in which the main power supply is not on, only a subset of functions of the apparatus are activated by supplying power from the power supply unit, and a process for limiting use of a function related to the failure is performed.

A image forming apparatus includes a power control unit, an operation mode control unit, and a first timer. The power control unit performs control so as to switch between a normal power state for supplying the operation power supply voltage to the image forming unit, a first power saving state for not supplying the operation power supply voltage to the image forming unit, and a second power saving state having less power consumption than the first power saving state. The operation mode control unit performs control so as to switch a normal mode corresponding to a normal power state, a first power saving mode corresponding to a first power saving state, and a second power saving mode corresponding to a second power saving state.

An image processing apparatus includes a fluctuation generating portion, and a connection identifying portion. The fluctuation generating portion fluctuates an output power of a power supply portion that supplies power to a load. The connection identifying portion identifies a connection relationship between the power supply portion and the load based on a correlative relationship between a fluctuation of the output power and a fluctuation of the power supplied to the load.

A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium stores a program executable by an information processing apparatus configured to communicate with a device including a first element and a second element, the second element being configured to receive power from a power source, and the first element being configured to receive the power from the power source via the second element. The program includes instructions that when executed by a processor of the information processing apparatus cause the information processing apparatus to control the second element such that the second element is maintained in a power state in which the second element supplies the power to the first element.

An image forming apparatus includes a first control circuit, a second control circuit, and a third control circuit. The first control circuit communicates with an information processing device. The second control circuit is configured to communicate with the first control circuit. The third control circuit is configured to communicate with the second control circuit and control a printer. The first control circuit is configured to receive print information from the information processing device during a power-saving mode and control the start of the second control circuit based on the print information. The second control circuit is configured to control a power supply to the third control circuit based on the start by the first control circuit and transmit, to the third control circuit, a warm-up start instruction for the printer based on the print information acquired from the first control circuit after communication with the third control circuit becomes possible.

An information processing device comprises a network interface including a buffer; a main controller; and a power controller that controls power using a first power mode in which power supplied to the main controller is limited and a second power mode in which a greater amount of power is supplied to the main controller. The network interface, if receiving a packet triggering a transition to the second power mode in the first power mode, stores the packet to the buffer memory and executes control such that, among packets received during a period until when the device starts operating in the second power mode, packets satisfying a discard condition are not stored and packets not satisfying a discard condition are stored. If the device is operating in the second power mode, even packets satisfying a discard condition are stored.

A printing apparatus connectable to an external power supply having outputtable voltage information, including: a printing head performing printing by electric power supplied from the external power supply; a resistor having an electric resistivity based on the printing head; a detector detecting a substantial voltage; and a controller configured to: obtain the voltage information from the external power supply; decide a tentative voltage; request the external power supply to output the tentative voltage; energize the resistor with the tentative voltage; decide the substantial voltage if a voltage corresponding to each of the obtained voltage information is supplied based on a result of the detector during the energizing of the resistor; decide an electric power supply voltage based on the substantial voltage; and request the external power supply to output the electric power supply voltage.

An information processing apparatus includes a power controller configured to perform one of first control, which, in response to the information processing apparatus transitioning from a second power state to a first power state, supplies electric power to a storage device and drives a spindle motor, and second control, which, in response to the information processing apparatus transitioning from the second power state to the first power state, supplies electric power to the storage device without driving the spindle motor, wherein, when the information processing apparatus is in the second power state, the power controller performs the first control based on a state controller receiving a first request signal, and the power controller performs the second control based on the state controller receiving a second request signal different from the first request signal.
