If the instruction data is the screen instruction data, the image processing apparatus executes: a display processing of displaying a setting screen, an acceptance processing of accepting a user operation designating the parameter; a first storage processing of storing the parameter designated by the acceptance processing. If the instruction data is the action instruction data, the image processing apparatus executes: a scan instruction processing of causing the scanner to execute the scanning action; a generation processing of generating the metadata, with using the parameter stored in the memory, and a second transmission processing.

To enable remote maintenance of a print control apparatus and an image forming apparatus (an image processing apparatus) to be performed by a terminal apparatus, the image forming apparatus connects to a server apparatus that relays communication between the print control apparatus and the terminal apparatus, and establishes VNC communication with the print control apparatus via the server apparatus and VNC communication with the terminal apparatus. The print control apparatus notifies the image forming apparatus that the print control apparatus will restart when instructed to restart by the terminal apparatus while the remote maintenance by the terminal apparatus is continuing. The print control apparatus instructs the image forming apparatus to reconnect to the server apparatus when the restart of the print control apparatus completes.

In a case where an image processing apparatus and a terminal display screens in an associated manner, if the terminal receives a user operation in a state where an enlarged screen is displayed only on the terminal, and the terminal transmits information about the operation as it is to the image processing apparatus, processing not intended by the user may possibly be performed. Therefore, when the terminal receives a user operation in a state where an enlarged screen is displayed only on the terminal, the terminal does not transmit the operation information as it is to the image processing apparatus.

A processing system includes an acceptance unit, a first transmission unit, an obtaining unit, and a second transmission unit. The acceptance unit accepts an instruction for performing a process. The first transmission unit transmits the instruction to a processing apparatus. The obtaining unit obtains identification information for identifying a substitute apparatus that performs at least a portion of the process indicated by the transmitted instruction on behalf of the processing apparatus. An authentication control apparatus includes a first authenticating unit, a second authenticating unit, a controller, and an outputting unit. The first authenticating unit performs first authentication using authentication information stored in association with a memory area. The second authenticating unit performs second authentication using authentication information stored in association with a user. Example apparatus and methods are disclosed for monitoring and controlling networked printing devices. A computing device can capture a printing device identifier of a printing device, where the printing device can be communicatively coupled to at least the computing device via a local network. The computing device can send a request to unlock the printing device. The computing device can receive an indication that the printing device is unlocked. After receiving the indication that the printing device is unlocked, the computing device can send a job request requesting execution of a job on the printing device, where the job request can include identification information associated with the computing device and the printing device identifier. The computing device can send job accounting information related to usage of the printing device related at least to the executed job request.

A system and method for generating customized user interface on a multifunction peripheral. The multifunction peripheral has an intelligent controller with a processor and memory, and a document processing engine with functional subsystems subject to software control by the intelligent controller. The intelligent controller functions as a webserver operating through a network interface. A variety of device control applications are stored with each applications configured to engage a corresponding subset of the functional subsystems. Image files generate an interface image corresponding to a device control application on a touchscreen multifunction peripheral interface. The webserver receives selection data corresponding to at least one selected device control application from an associated web client and outputs a web page displaying image files corresponding to each selected device control application image to the web client via the network interface generating a preview image of a customized user interface.

A method of controlling multiple imaging devices includes wirelessly communicating with the imaging devices, and displaying identifiers corresponding to each of the plurality of imaging devices, on the basis of the communication.
