Document Imaging System and Method for Imaging Documents
A system is provided for processing documents. In particular, the system incorporates a feeder for feeding documents to a device for further processing of the documents. For instance, the system finds particular application in the field of document imaging in which a variety of documents of varying sizes and orientation are to be fed to an imaging system, such as a document scanner. The system may provide a sorting station that receives documents from a work station and sorts the documents to a plurality of sort locations. The system may export the image data for the documents to a fileserver so that a remote operator can provide instructions for the processing of the documents so that the documents can be subsequently processed according to the instructions provided by the operator.

In an image processing apparatus, a protection-target document sheet determining portion determines whether or not a protection-target image is included in a read image that is obtained by an image reading device, the protection-target image satisfying a predetermined protection condition. An operation detection sensor detects a removal operation of removing the document sheet from the document sheet support portion. An image output device executes a read image output process that includes printing the read image or outputting data of the read image to outside. A control device, in a case where it has been determined that a protection-target image is included in the read image, causes the image output device to execute the read image output process only after the removal operation is detected after the image is read from the document sheet.

In a case where it is determined that image processing on image data is executed not in parallel with other image processing different from the image processing and printing of an image of the document is started after reading of an image of a first page of the document is completed, a transfer rate of image data from an image reading unit to an image processing unit is set to a predetermined transfer rate. Whereas in a case where it is determined that the image processing on image data is executed not in parallel with the other image processing different from the image processing and printing of the image of the document is started without waiting for the reading of the image of the first page of the document to be completed, the transfer rate is set to a transfer rate lower than the predetermined transfer rate.

In a case where it is determined that image processing on image data is executed not in parallel with other image processing different from the image processing and printing of an image of the document is started after reading of an image of a first page of the document is completed, a transfer rate of image data from an image reading unit to an image processing unit is set to a predetermined transfer rate. Whereas in a case where it is determined that the image processing on image data is executed not in parallel with the other image processing different from the image processing and printing of the image of the document is started without waiting for the reading of the image of the first page of the document to be completed, the transfer rate is set to a transfer rate lower than the predetermined transfer rate.
Image reading apparatus having multiple reading operations
An image reading apparatus includes a reading portion that reads an image on a target object; a motor that cause the reading portion to move; and a control portion that controls the reading portion and the motor. Further, in a case where the motor does not enter a step-out state, the control portion executes a first reading operation that causes the reading portion to read the image simultaneously with causing the motor to cause the reading portion to move at a high speed, and in a case where the motor enters the step-out state, the control portion executes a second reading operation that causes the reading portion to read the image simultaneously with causing the motor to cause the reading portion to move at a low speed, and generates image data having a resolution lower than a high resolution corresponding to the low speed.

A method and system for obtaining an image of object, for example an optical section of a sample, are disclosed. The image includes a plurality of scan lines to be acquired. The method includes, for a current one of the scan lines to be acquired, a step of determining positions of one or more predicted regions of interest along the current scan line based on at least one previously acquired predictive scan line. The method also includes a step of acquiring the current scan line along a scan path in accordance with a variable scan speed profile including at least one slower speed component along segments of the scan path corresponding to the positions of the one or more predicted regions of interest and at least one faster speed component elsewhere along the scan path.

Disclosed is an image acquiring method. The image acquiring method includes receiving an instruction to acquire a one-side image to acquire an image on a first side of a document; obtaining a penetrated image of the first side of the document, which is seen on the second side, with a second image sensor for obtaining an image on a second side of the document, while the document is being fed; obtaining an image on the first side of the document with a first image sensor for obtaining an image on the first side of the document, while the document is being fed; and processing the image on the first side based on the penetrated image of the first side.
