An apparatus and method for training muscle strength and mobility in the neck, and providing a dynamic resting position without pressure on the neck, of a person when in lying position is disclosed. The apparatus includes a base element, a head support suspended floating above the base element, and a neck support rising from the base element. The neck support provides a fulcrum that defines head movement to a pivoting motion about a first axis (X) which runs sideways substantially along the shoulder line of the body, a pivot connection between the head support and the base element defines head movement to a pivoting motion about a second axis (Y) transversely to the first axis, and by its floating suspension the head support defines head movement to a pivoting motion about a third axis (Z) running in the longitudinal direction of the neck and body.

NEUROMUSCULAR TRAINING APPARATUS AND METHOD
20190209889 · 2019-07-11 ·

An apparatus and method for automating neuromuscular training. The apparatus may be used in conjunction with a human trainer or by a person training alone. The apparatus and method may be applied to various forms of neuromuscular training, The apparatus may be employed by a person desiring training in an environment with a human trainer as well as, or alternatively, in a home environment for personal training.

Embodiments enable training of relative motions between body parts such as the head, neck, shoulders, upper torso, lower torso. These relative motions may be linear and/or angular. Pressure/sensor assemblies facilitate both the suggestion of desired motions as well as sensing of the person's neuromuscular response to these suggestions.

Neck muscle exerciser and method of assessing neck muscle performance

Training neck muscles in such a way as to improve responsiveness to head acceleration forces, and to help prevent concussion and/or screening subjects who are at high risk of concussion, especially from contact sports or military activities, may be accomplished by a device and/or method of training that incorporates an adjustable centripetal force about a fixed axis on the head. The centripetal force may be adjusted through varying the weight and/or length of a force arm, and neck muscle performance may be measured by a number of revolutions of the force arm completed over a set time period or a time required to complete a pre-determined number of revolutions of the force arm.
