A portable terminal has a memory having a program stored thereon and readably by a computer. The program causes the portable terminal to perform deciding an image forming apparatus enabling to execute a first operation as a first designated apparatus which executes the first operation in accordance with predetermined decision criteria, deciding an image forming apparatus designated by a user of the portable terminal as a second designated apparatus which executes a second operation different from the first operation, receiving a designation of designating at least one of the first operation and the second operation, transmitting first instruction information that instructs to execute the first operation to the first designated apparatus when the first operation is designated in the designation, and transmitting second instruction information that instructs to execute the second operation to the second designated apparatus when the second operation is designated in the designation.

A system includes a storage unit, a generation unit, a comparison unit, a determination unit, and an execution unit. The storage unit stores coordinates of regions included in a document and identification information of the regions. The generation unit generates regions to be subjected to character recognition in a newly-received document. The comparison unit compares the generated regions coordinates and the stored regions coordinates. The determination unit determines identification information corresponding to the generated regions coordinates according to the identification information corresponding to the regions stored in the storage unit and a comparison result of the comparison unit. The execution unit specifies a script for inputting, to an application, text information obtained by the character recognition performed on the generated regions in accordance with the determined identification information and executes the specified script. The storage unit stores the generated regions coordinates and the determined identification information of the regions.

A system and method for document translation during transmission includes digital device, such as a multifunction peripheral, that includes an input for electronic document data, such as with a scanner or facsimile machine input interface. A user interface receives destination address data corresponding to a plurality of document delivery destinations as specified by a user. A memory stores language selection data for each of the plurality of document delivery destinations, as well as web service address information corresponding to at least one cloud-based document processing service including a document translation service. A processor communicates document output data, corresponding to the electronic document, and the language selection data to the at least one document translation service via a network interface, and the translated document is sent to one or more destinations as specified by the destination address data.

An information processing apparatus capable of instructing a facsimile transmission by controlling a device capable of transmission and receiving of a facsimile, and a method of controlling the apparatus are provided. The apparatus specifies address information indicating a transmission destination of a designated document, and determine whether or not the specified address information includes information of a communication mode. If the address information includes the information of the communication mode, in a case where a driver, that instructs the device to perform the facsimile transmission, supports the communication mode, the apparatus performs the facsimile transmission in accordance with the address information and the communication mode, and if the specified address information does not include the information of the communication mode, the apparatus performs the facsimile transmission in accordance with a communication mode that the driver supports.

A data communication apparatus has a transmission function of transmitting data to a pre-set transmission destination. A data communication apparatus, when importing at least one of an address book and setting information based on import data including data that has been exported by another data communication apparatus, determines data to be imported. The data communication apparatus determines, with respect to each of the address book and the setting information, if the address book or the setting information is actually to be imported. Furthermore, if it is determined that either one of the address book and the setting information is to be imported, but the other one is not to be imported, the use of the transmission function is restricted after import processing has been performed based on the import data.

An image transmission apparatus includes a plurality of keys, a scanner, a display, a memory, and a controller. The plurality of keys includes a plurality of numeric keys and a first specific key. The memory is capable of storing a plurality of telephone numbers associated with respective ones of the plurality of numeric keys. The controller controls the display to display a telephone number inputted via the plurality of numeric keys, and transmits the image data generated by the scanner to a transmission destination indicated by the displayed telephone number. In a case that operation of the first specific key is received and operation of one of the plurality of numeric keys, as an operated numeric key, is received, the controller reads a telephone number associated with the operated numeric key from the memory, and transmits the image data to a transmission destination indicated by the read telephone number.

A device includes a first requester, an acquirer, a transmitter, a storage controller, a second requester, and an executor. The first requester is configured to issue a request for launching a program to a server. The acquirer is configured to acquire identifying information from the server in response to the launching request and identifies the program. The transmitter is configured to transmit device information that identifies the device to the server in response to a transmission request transmitted from the server. The storage controller is configured to store, in association with the identifying information, request information which allows accessing the server and the device information in a storage unit. The second requester is configured to transmit the request information to the server. The executor is configured to execute the program which is launched in the server and associated with the request information.

A system and method for document translation during transmission includes digital device, such as a multifunction peripheral, that includes an input for electronic document data, such as with a scanner or facsimile machine input interface. A user interface receives destination address data corresponding to a plurality of document delivery destinations as specified by a user. A memory stores language selection data for each of the plurality of document delivery destinations, as well as web service address information corresponding to at least one cloud-based document processing service including a document translation service. A processor communicates document output data, corresponding to the electronic document, and the language selection data to the at least one document translation service via a network interface, and the translated document is sent to one or more destinations as specified by the destination address data.

An information processing apparatus includes a presentation unit that, if there is no contact name registered in a contact list in which a contact name representing a name indicative of a contact and multiple pieces of destination information are associated with each other, presents a contact name that includes an attribute of the contact or destination information indicative of a destination of transmission for the transmitting application of interest.

A system includes plural output units that output received document data, a storage unit that stores attribute information of a recipient who is to output the document data, a specifying unit that specifies an output unit from among the plural output units by using the attribute information of the recipient; and a transmitting unit that transmits the document data to the output unit specified by the specifying unit.
