An image scanner includes a conveyance path and a conveyor that conveys a medium through the conveyance path. The medium bears a detection mark that is spaced from a leading edge of the medium in a medium conveyance direction. A background member is disposed opposite the conveyance path. A luminance sensor is disposed opposite the background member via the conveyance path. The luminance sensor detects a luminance value of each of the background member and the medium. A controller controls the luminance sensor to detect the luminance value at a plurality of times while the conveyor conveys the medium so as to obtain a plurality of detected luminance values. The controller determines a ground color luminance value of a ground color area on the medium based on a determination range including a first peak luminance value among the plurality of detected luminance values.

An image capturing method can be applied to an application, and include: determining a dimension adjustment approach set for a preset object in an acquired image to be processed after a dimension adjustment function of the application is turned on; and obtaining and displaying an adjusted image by adjusting a dimension of the preset object in the image to be processed according to the dimension adjustment approach, so as to support real-time preview of the adjusted image. As the dimension of the preset object in the image to be processed is adjusted in the image capturing process, the image capturing experience of the user is improved, and satisfying photos or videos can be obtained quickly.

Techniques are disclosed for filling or otherwise replacing a target region of a primary image with a corresponding region of an auxiliary image. The filling or replacing can be done with an overlay (no subtractive process need be run on the primary image). Because the primary and auxiliary images may not be aligned, both geometric and photometric transformations are applied to the primary and/or auxiliary images. For instance, a geometric transformation of the auxiliary image is performed, to better align features of the auxiliary image with corresponding features of the primary image. Also, a photometric transformation of the auxiliary image is performed, to better match color of one or more pixels of the auxiliary image with color of corresponding one or more pixels of the primary image. The corresponding region of the transformed auxiliary image is then copied and overlaid on the target region of the primary image.

A printing apparatus includes a pattern extracting unit for, based on a comparison between first image data representing a pattern and second image data generated by imaging a fabric transported, extracting a pattern region from the second image data, a printing image generation unit for arranging third image data representing an image to be printed overlaid on the pattern so that the third image data matches the pattern region to generate printing image data, and a printing control unit for causing a printing unit to print the printing image data on the fabric transported.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to acquire a manuscript image and an additional image added to the manuscript image, and reduce an image area other than a blank area in the manuscript image so that the additional image fits in the blank area of the manuscript image.

An image outputting device includes a scanning module, a storage module, an identification module, a calibration module and a printing module. The scanning module generates an image by scanning an object. The storage module stores the image. The identification module identifies a layout orientation and a text orientation of the image. The calibration module calibrates the layout orientation and the text orientation of the image according to a relation of an identification result of the identification module and a layout orientation of the printing medium. When the printing module prints the calibrated image on a printing surface of the printing medium and outputs the printing medium with the printing surface facing downwardly, the layout orientation of the printed image matches with the layout orientation of the printing medium, and the text orientation of the printed image is opposite to an medium outputting direction or arranged from proximal to distal.

A printing apparatus includes a pattern extracting unit for, based on a comparison between first image data representing a pattern and second image data generated by imaging a fabric transported, extracting a pattern region from the second image data, a printing image generation unit for arranging third image data representing an image to be printed overlaid on the pattern so that the third image data matches the pattern region to generate printing image data, and a printing control unit for causing a printing unit to print the printing image data on the fabric transported.

An image forming system includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry generates print image data to for printing a first image included in print job data, on a conveyance medium. The processing circuitry controls printing on the conveyance medium based on the print image data. The processing circuitry sets an area for printing a second image including identification information to identify each page of the conveyance medium, in a first area where the first image is not printed, to generate the print image data.

An image forming apparatus is configured to arrange a plurality of pages, including a first page and a second page adjacent to the first page, in print data, without providing a margin between adjacent pages in the plurality of pages. The image forming apparatus includes a changer configured to change at least one of a position or an angle of the second page, such that a color of a first edge portion region of the first page and a color of a second edge portion region, adjacent to the first edge portion region, of the second page, satisfy a predetermined condition.

An image processing apparatus includes a generation unit configured to generate image data by scanning a document, a reception unit configured to receive a selection of a file including page data, the file being stored, and an addition unit configured to perform processing for adding the image data generated by the generation unit to the page data included in the selected file.
