There is provided an image processing apparatus, method, and operation program capable of appropriately removing an abnormal pixel even in a case where the abnormal pixel is present in a tailing region. An abnormal pixel removing section removes an abnormal pixel from an image in which tailing and the dot-shaped abnormal pixel are mixed every other line. The abnormal pixel removing section selects neighboring pixels from only odd lines or even lines including a line, in which a target pixel to be corrected is present, depending on whether or not the line in which the target pixel is present is an odd-numbered line in a sub-scanning direction, and performs processing for removing the abnormal pixel based on the selected neighboring pixels.

Image Processing Apparatus and Image Processing Method That Ensure Improved Visibility of Character After Conversion into Monochrome Image Data, and Recording Medium Therefor

An image processing apparatus includes an image-data acquiring unit, a character recognition processing unit, and a monochrome conversion unit. The image-data acquiring unit acquires image data representing an image including a character. The character recognition processing unit performs a character recognition process on the image data to extract a character region. The character region is a region where the character is represented. The monochrome conversion unit converts the image data into monochrome image data when the image data is color image data including a color image. The monochrome image data includes a monochrome image representing the color image with a single color. When a tone difference between the extracted character region and an adjacent region is smaller than a predetermined threshold, the monochrome conversion unit changes a tone of a boundary region between the character region and the adjacent region adjacent to the character region.

An image reading device includes a first setting processing portion, a second setting processing portion, and a third setting processing portion. The first setting processing portion, when first reference data has been read in a first reading process in which image data is read from a sheet placed on a sheet placement portion, sets a first adjustment value which is used in a shading correction. The second setting processing portion, when second reference data has been read in a second reading process in which image data is read from a sheet conveyed by a sheet conveying portion, sets a second adjustment value which is used in the shading correction. The third setting processing portion, in a case where only one of the first adjustment value and the second adjustment value has been set, sets the other based on the one that has been set.

An image processing apparatus that can suppress a tint phenomenon in image recovery processing and a method of controlling the same are disclosed. A saturation determination unit determines whether or not a saturated pixel is included in a reference region referred to by filter processing units. An R component output adjustment unit and a B component output adjustment unit adjust corresponding color components resulting from image recovery processing according to the determination result obtained by the saturation determination unit.

Print fluid drop dispensation mask with entry moved to entry for adjacent pass to avoid repeated dispensation for a pixel per pass

Mask entries for each of a plurality of passes over which print fluid drops are to be dispensed for printing an image are generated based on different types of masks and based on image data for the image. Print fluid drop dispensation for a pixel for which the mask entries for a given pass specify repeated print fluid drop dispensation is moved to a mask entry for an adjacent pass that does not specify print fluid drop dispensation for the pixel. Ejection of print fluid to print the image is caused based on the generated mask entries.
