A motion information acquiring apparatus includes: a lighting device that illuminates an object at the same time with first intensity-modulated light, second intensity-modulated light, and constant illumination light, wherein the first and second intensity-modulated light are intensity modulated with reference signals having substantially same wavelength but different phase; an image generator that generates first to third images corresponding to the first intensity-modulated light, the second intensity-modulated light, and the constant illumination light; and a motion information acquirer that acquires motion information in the images on the basis of the first to third images.

Image processing apparatus, image processing method, and program

Noise is sufficiently reduced in a moving image. A determination section determines, each time an input image is input, whether a change amount of a pixel value distribution in the input image and an output image that is output is smaller than a predetermined threshold value. A mixing ratio supply section supplies a value that becomes larger as the number of times the change amount is sequentially determined to be smaller than the predetermined threshold value becomes larger, the value serving as a mixing ratio of the output image in mixing of the input image and the output image. A mixing section mixes, each time the input image is input, the input image and the output image based on the supplied mixing ratio and outputs the input image and the output image to serve as a new output image.

An object detection apparatus that detects an object in a vicinity of a vehicle includes: (a) an image processing circuit configured to: (i) derive vectors representing movement of feature points in captured images acquired periodically by a camera that captures images of the vicinity of the vehicle; and (ii) detect the object based on the vectors; and (b) a controller configured to (i) acquire a velocity of the vehicle; and (ii) set a parameter that affects a number of the feature points based on the velocity of the vehicle.

Method for processing an image sequence having consecutive video images in order to improve the spatial resolution

An image sequence includes consecutive video images each exhibiting at least one image region having a number of pixels, where each pixel includes at least one intensity value. For each image a motion measure value is determined indicative of temporal change of a video content of the image region and varying the intensity values of the pixels of the image region relative to the associated intensity values from video image to video image, a measure for the variation of the intensity values being dependent on the motion measure value determined and the change in the intensity values relative to the associated intensity values being greater the larger the motion represented by the motion measure value.
