Voice command integration for local network connected devices
Various arrangements for facilitating smart television content receivers in a local network are provided. A primary television receiver executing a first operating system can receive audio data including human voice from a voice enabled remote control. The primary television receiver can transmit the audio data to a secondary television receiver executing a second operating system and that includes a voice command component. The secondary television receiver can convert the audio data into voice command data and transmit the voice command data to the primary television receiver. The primary television receiver can transmit the voice command data to a voice processing server via the Internet and receive, in response, a command generated based on the voice command data. The primary television receiver can transmit the command to the secondary television receiver. The voice command component can then control an operation of the secondary television receiver based on the command.
Display apparatus and operation method thereof
Provided are a display apparatus and an operation method thereof for preventing image flicker when displaying mixed images: generating a first image corresponding to video content on a first plane, generating, on a second plane, a second image, outputting a mixed image that is a mixture of the first image and the second image, generating a third image on a third plane corresponding to the mixed image, and displaying the third image based on removal of the first image from the display.
System for providing a virtual focus group facility
A platform configured to provide virtual glass in order to augment and improve focus group sessions for each actor within the ecosystem. The platform may be configured to allow a moderator, one or more test subjects, and one or more client users to participate in a focus group session at geographically diverse locations. The platform may also be configured to supplement the focus group experience by allowing for dialog and communication between the client users. In some cases, the platform may also be configured to generate and provide real time status indicators associate with the tests subject, real time text-based transcripts of the sessions, and recommendations as to the focus group direction to the moderator.

Automoted identification of product or brand-related metadata candidates for a commercial using temporal position of product or brand-related text or objects, or the temporal position and audio, in video frames of the commercial
A method and system are provided for assigning metadata candidates to a commercial by performing image analysis on a plurality of the video frames to identify video frames that include one or more of identifiable product-related logos, brand-related logos, product-related text, or brand-related text which appear in the video frames, capturing frame data for such video frames, categorizing a temporal position of the identified video frames within the commercial as being in either a beginning or ending portion of the commercial, or a middle portion of the commercial, and assigning to the commercial the identified products or brands as primary metadata candidates when the temporal position of the identified video frames within the commercial is in either the beginning or ending portion of the commercial.
Providing content related to a selected channel for presentation to a user via a client device
A system may receive an entity identifier for a user. The entity identifier may identify an entity that is associated with a category. The system may identify channel(s) for the category by obtaining data for the user, and analyzing the data to determine a score for each channel. The system may use the scores to select one or more of the channels. The system may provide content related to the selected channel(s) to a client device of the user, and the user may interact with the content via the client device.
Advanced television systems committee (ATSC) 3.0 latency-free display of content attribute
Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. A dynamic MPD can be supplemented by offline descriptor information transmitted OTA at display time so that the descriptor information, e.g., language information, captioning information, and the like, can be immediately presented on a UI.

Customized graphics for video conversations
An online system customizes video conversations between users of the online system. During a video conversation, the online system presents a composite view to the participating users. The composite view may include visual representations of the users, a background graphic, or other types of graphics such as masks and props that the users can wear or interact with in the environment of the video conversation. The visual representations may be generated based on a live video feed of the users or include avatars of the users. The online system can determine the graphics based on information about the users. For instance, the online system determines a background graphic showing a location that the users have each visited. Upon viewing the background graphic, the users may be encouraged to interact with the background graphic or other graphics included in the composite view, which can promote an engaging video conversation experience.
Systems and methods for seamlessly connecting devices based on relationships between the users of the respective devices
Systems and methods are described for seamlessly connecting devices based on relationships between the users of the respective devices. A media guidance application may determine that a first user has entered an environment (e.g., his/her mother's home) and may determine a frequency with which the first user enters the environment (e.g., daily). In response to determining that the first user visits frequently, the media guidance application may identify a second device in the environment (e.g., a smart TV) that a second user (e.g., the first user's mother) is authorized to grant access rights for. The media guidance application may determine a likelihood that the second user will grant the access rights for the second device to the first user, based on interaction data between the first user and the second user. In response to determining a high likelihood, the media guidance application may transmit the access rights.
