The present invention relates to a laser light source optical projection architecture, which comprises a laser light source group, a color control device, a phosphor device and an optical filter group. Accordingly, the laser light source optical projection architecture does not require to synchronize the phosphor device with the color field sequential display system, and the color control (ratios of the color duty) does not need to be determined in advance, i.e. at the time the color control device is manufactured. Various color field ratios can be achieved by adjusting positions of the specific color control device to obtain different red, blue and green color field durations, allowing easy electronic control of the color field duty cycles.

TEMPORAL MODELING OF PHASE MODULATORS IN MULTI-MODULATION PROJECTION

A dual-modulation projection system (100) includes a light source (102), a phase modulator (104), an amplitude modulator (106), and a controller (110) having temporal lightfield simulation capabilities (114). The phase modulator (104) spatially modulates a lightfield from the light source (102) to generate an intermediate image on the amplitude modulator (106). The amplitude modulator (106) spatially modulates the intermediate image to form a final image. The controller (110) models the phase state of the phase modulator (104) during transitions between phase modulator frames and generates lightfield simulations of the intermediate image during the transition. The controller (110) utilizes the lightfield simulations to generate and provide sets of amplitude drive values to the amplitude modulator (106) at a faster rate than that at which the phase modulator (104) is capable of switching.

In order to be able to operate the projector (1) as energy-efficiently as possible, it is provided, according to the invention, that the projector (1) comprises a beam splitter device (6, 6) having a polarization beam splitter (7, 15), wherein the polarization beam splitter (7) is arranged at an object-side end (39) of the projection optics (30).

Projection system and projector with light-shielding mask

A projector projects image light generated by an image generation unit, as an enlarged image via a projection system. The incident position of the image light on the projection system is moved by a lens shift mechanism. The projection system forms an intermediate image in the course of the optical path. A light-shielding mask is provided at an image forming position of the intermediate image. A light-shielding area by the light-shielding mask includes an area that does not overlap the intermediate image within a range of an effective image forming area at the image forming position of the intermediate image. For example, the light-shielding area is an area on the side opposite to the side to which the intermediate image is shifted, of the effective image forming area.

A HUD including a projection display unit, a housing, a cover, a region detection unit, an object removing mechanism and an object removal control unit is provided. The projection display unit spatially modulates light emitted from a light source as image information and projects image light obtained from spatial modulation onto a windshield to display an image. The housing accommodates the projection display unit and has an opening portion through which the image light exits. The cover covers the opening portion. The region detecting unit detects an object adhesion region in which the object is adhered to the cover. The object removing mechanism removes an object adhered to a front surface of the cover by scraping the front surface of the cover. The object removal control unit activates the object removing mechanism when important display content is included in a portion of the image light, the portion being blocked.

In order to project an image excluding zero-order light without adding extra modulation elements or pixels, without applying distortions, and without reducing luminance, a projection device includes: a phase modulator that modulates the phase of incident laser light; a Fourier transform lens that performs Fourier transformation on laser light, whose phase is modulated by the phase modulator; a mirror disposed on an image formation surface by the Fourier transform lens, and configured to reflect the laser light subjected to Fourier transformation by the Fourier transform lens; and a projection lens that enlarges the light reflected by the mirror and projects the light as projected light. The mirror guides zero-order light included in the Fourier-transformed laser light in a direction different from a direction of the projection lens, and reflects the light excluding zero-order light toward the projection lens.

LED pattern projector for 3D camera platforms

A light pattern projector with a pattern mask to spatially modulate an intensity of a wideband illumination source, such as an LED, and a projector lens to reimage the spatially modulated emission onto regions of a scene that is to be captured with an image sensor. The projector lens may comprise a microlens array (MLA) including a first lenslet to reimage the spatially modulated emission onto a first portion of a scene, and a second lenslet to reimage the spatially modulated emission onto a first portion of a scene. The MLA may have a fly's eye architecture with convex curvature over a diameter of the projector lens in addition to the lenslet curvature. The pattern mask may be an amplitude mask comprising a mask pattern of high and low amplitude transmittance regions. In the alternative, the pattern mask may be a phase mask, such as a refractive or diffractive mask.
