Method and system for creating wide-screen picture-dominance effect in a conventional motion-picture theater
10924717 · 2021-02-16 ·

A system and method are disclosed for exhibiting wide-screen motion pictures, including in multiplex-style theaters, with an immersive, virtual reality picture-dominance effect not previously obtainable in such theaters. The invention uses a zero-gain or nominal-gain curved screen to accommodate a wide-screen presentation, and a digital projector capable of delivering fourteen foot-lamberts or more of light to the screen. It can support any theatrical aspect ratio for presentation, including 2.76:1. To eliminate image distortion, the invention uses mapping software to correct the image for the geometry of the auditorium and the shape of the screen. This correction is established for every aspect ratio displayed in the auditorium in which the invention is installed, and aspect ratios can be changed to display content with different aspect ratios during a program. The images delivered to viewers through the invention deliver the full benefit of the native aspect ratio in which they are displayed.

Set buffer state instruction

Input/output (I/O) operation requests from pageable storage mode guests are interpreted without host intervention. In a pageable mode virtual environment, requests issued by pageable storage mode guests are processed by one or more processors of the environment absent intervention from one or more hosts of the environment. Processing of the requests includes manipulating, by at least one processor on behalf of the guests, buffer state information stored in host storage. The manipulating is performed via instructions initiated by the guests and processed by one or more of the processors.

For example, 120 Hz display can be favorably performed on a reception side even in the case of encoding and transmitting moving image data of 24 Hz at the frame rate of 60 Hz. A video stream of a second frame rate larger than a first frame rate is obtained by encoding each picture constituting moving image data of the first frame rate at the second frame rate. Identification information indicating a synchronization relationship between the first frame rate and display start timing is inserted into encoded image data of each picture constituting the video stream of the second frame rate. The video stream of the second frame rate in which the identification information is inserted is transmitted.

Image processing device and image processing method

The present invention discloses an image processing device and an image processing method. The image processing method includes steps of: referring to multiple frames or an auxiliary data associated with the frames to determine whether the frames contain substantially the same frames; selecting the frames according to whether the frames contain substantially the same frames to generate multiple selected frames; and performing video processing on the selected frames. When the frames do not contain substantially the same frames, the selected frames are the same as the frames, and when the frames contain substantially the same frames, the selected frames are part of the frames.

HIGH-QUALITY, REDUCED DATA RATE STREAMING VIDEO PRODUCTION AND MONITORING SYSTEM

A multi-format digital video production system is capable of maintaining full-bandwidth resolution of subject material while providing professional quality editing and manipulation of images intended for digital television and other applications, including digital HDTV programs and specialized video monitoring applications. This allows emerging broadband video transmission media, including Internet broadcast schemes, to overcome existing technology limitations. The approach facilitates high-quality/large-screen video production and monitoring through the use of conventional broadband channels, including those which currently only exhibit bandwidths on the order of 4 Mbps. In formats utilizing substantially 24 fps progressive scan multi-format system, direct streaming is made possible from HDTV (16:9) high-quality data, thereby expanding market applications which require these higher levels of resolution, bits per pixel, and so forth.

Systems and methods to control judder visibility

Methods and systems for controlling judder are disclosed. Judder can be introduced locally within a picture, to restore a judder feeling which is normally expected in films. Capture time and display time of frames can be manipulated to obtain a desired amount of judder. Frames can be interpolated to obtain a film with a higher frame rate and localized control of judder.
