Methods and apparatus for receiving and/or using reduced resolution images
Methods and apparatus for using selective resolution reduction on images to be transmitted and/or used by a playback device are described. Prior to transmission one or more images of an environment are captured. Based on image content, motion detection and/or user input a resolution reduction operation is selected and performed. The reduced resolution image is communicated to a playback device along with information indicating a UV map corresponding to the selected resolution allocation that should be used by the playback device for rendering the communicated image. By changing the resolution allocation used and which UV map is used by the playback device different resolution allocations can be made with respect to different portions of the environment while allowing the number of pixels in transmitted images to remain constant. The playback device renders the individual images with the UV map corresponding to the resolution allocation used to generate the individual images.
Layered Scene Decomposition CODEC with Transparency
A system and methods for a CODEC driving a real-time light field display for multi-dimensional video streaming, interactive gaming and other light field display applications is provided applying a layered scene decomposition strategy. Multi-dimensional scene data including information on transparency of surfaces is divided into a plurality of data layers of increasing depths as the distance between a given layer and the display surface increases. Data layers are sampled using a plenoptic sampling scheme and rendered using hybrid rendering, such as perspective and oblique rendering, to encode light fields corresponding to each data layer. The resulting compressed, (layered) core representation of the multi-dimensional scene data is produced at predictable rates, reconstructed and merged at the light field display in real-time by applying view synthesis protocols, including edge adaptive interpolation, to reconstruct pixel arrays in stages (e.g. columns then rows) from reference elemental images.

A system and methods for a CODEC driving a real-time light field display for multi-dimensional video streaming, interactive gaming and other light field display applications is provided applying a layered scene decomposition strategy. Data layers which are sampled using an effective resolution function to determine a suitable sampling rate and rendered using hybrid rendering, such as perspective and oblique rendering, to encode light fields corresponding to each data layer. The resulting compressed, (layered) core representation of the multi-dimensional scene data is produced at predictable rates, reconstructed and merged at the light field display in real-time by applying view synthesis protocols, including edge adaptive interpolation, to reconstruct pixel arrays in stages (e.g. columns then rows) from reference elemental images.

CAMERA MODULE
A camera module according to the present embodiment comprises: a light-emitting unit for outputting light to an object; a filter allowing the light to pass therethrough; at least one sheet of lens disposed on the filter and condensing the light reflected from the object; a sensor including a plurality of pixels aligned in an array and generating an electrical signal from the light condensed by the lens; and a tilt unit for tilting the filter such that an optical path of the light having passed through the filter is repeatedly moved according to a predetermined rule, wherein the tilt unit includes: a tilting driver for generating an output signal synchronized with an exposure cycle of the sensor on the basis of a trigger signal input from the sensor; and a tilting actuator for tilting the filter diagonally by the output signal.
Device attachment with dual band imaging sensor
Various techniques are disclosed for providing a device attachment configured to releasably attach to and provide infrared imaging functionality to mobile phones or other portable electronic devices. The device attachment may include an infrared imagining module and a non-thermal imaging module that cooperate with one or more of a non-thermal imaging module in an attached device and a light source in the attached device for capturing and processing images.

A directional display method and device of audio equipment, and audio equipment are disclosed. The audio equipment comprises a camera module and a display screen that is circumferentially located on sides of the audio equipment. The display screen is rotatable relative to the audio equipment. The method comprises activating the camera module for panoramic shooting to detect a user position in response to an activation signal acquired; determining whether the display screen is in half screen display mode according to a relationship between the user position and a center position of the audio equipment; and when it is determined that the display screen is in half screen display mode, determining a compensation angle of a display direction of a half screen display area relative to the user position, and adjusting the display direction of the half screen display area so that the compensation angle is zero.
