A data processing method includes: acquiring a free-view information data box corresponding to an i.sup.th track of immersive media, the free-view information data box including view information corresponding to the i.sup.th track, i being an integer greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to M; and decoding images encapsulated in the i.sup.th track according to the view information in the free-view information data box, where the immersive media are formed by images taken by N cameras from different views, the immersive media is encapsulated into M tracks, and images from at least one camera are encapsulated in one track. N and M are integers greater than 1.

A virtual 3D display for a motor vehicle includes a substrate and a flexible display positioned on the substrate. The flexible display has two foldable sections and a main section. A three-dimensional display device includes a display panel that displays a parallax image, an optical panel including a plurality of less-transmissive portions and a plurality of transmissive portions repeatedly arranged alternately in a parallax direction, and a controller that controls the display panel. Each of the plurality of transmissive portions has a first width in the parallax direction greater than a second width of each of the plurality of less-transmissive portions in the parallax direction. The controller causes the display panel to display a black image in a binocular viewable area on the display panel viewable to two eyes of a user to allow parallax separation of the parallax image.

Provided is an information processing apparatus that includes a line-of-sight information acquisition unit which acquires line-of-sight information related to a line-of-sight direction of a user, a movement information acquisition unit which acquires a center-of-gravity movement information related to a center-of-gravity movement direction of a body of the user, and a display control unit which performs a first display control for controlling a display device by moving a viewpoint of the imaging unit in the center-of-gravity movement direction while substantially maintaining the imaging posture of the imaging unit when the line-of-sight direction and the center-of-gravity movement direction are substantially parallel and performs a second display control for controlling the display device by rotating the imaging posture of the imaging unit and moving the viewpoint of the imaging unit in the center-of-gravity movement direction when the line-of-sight direction and the center-of-gravity movement direction are not substantially parallel.
System for illuminating a viewer of a display device
Provided is a display device comprising a display panel having an array of display pixel elements for producing a display output; a viewer detecting system rendering data representing 1) the illumination intensity of a body part of the viewer and 2) another property of the body part; at least one illumination source for providing illumination of a body part of the viewer; and a processor configured to 1) process the data representing the illumination intensity of a body part of the viewer and 2) drive the at least one illumination source dependent on said illumination data to adapt the illumination intensity of a body part of the viewer.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CREATING VIRTUAL AND AUGMENTED REALITY
Configurations are disclosed for presenting virtual reality and augmented reality experiences to users. The system may comprise an image capturing device to capture one or more images, the one or more images corresponding to a field of the view of a user of a head-mounted augmented reality device, and a processor communicatively coupled to the image capturing device to extract a set of map points from the set of images, to identify a set of sparse points and a set of dense points from the extracted set of map points, and to perform a normalization on the set of map points.

Apparatus and method for generating view images
An apparatus for generating view images for a scene comprises a store (101) which stores three dimensional scene data representing the scene from a viewing region. The three dimensional scene data may e.g. be images and depth maps captured from capture positions within the viewing region. A movement processor (105) receives motion data, such as head or eye tracking data, for a user and determines an observer viewing position and an observer viewing orientation from the motion data. A change processor (109) determines an orientation change measure for the observer viewing orientation and an adapter (111) is arranged to reduce a distance from the observer viewing position relative to the viewing region in response to the orientation change measure. An image generator (103) generates view images for the observer viewing position and the observer viewing orientation from the scene data.
Hybrid stereo rendering for depth extension in dynamic light field displays
An apparatus and method for hybrid rendering. For example, one embodiment of a method comprises: identifying left and right views of a user's eyes; generating at least one depth map for the left and right views; calculating depth clamping thresholds including a minimum depth value and a maximum depth value; transforming the depth map in accordance with the minimum depth value and maximum depth value; and performing view synthesis to render left and right views using the transformed depth map.
