VOLUMETRIC DISPLAY
A volumetric display capable of high-speed image presentation includes a resonance-type liquid lens having a focal length that is periodically adjusted using resonance of a liquid. An image projector projects an image toward a viewpoint position of a user via the resonance-type liquid lens. Further, the image projector projects an image toward the viewpoint position within a shorter time period than one-tenth of a variation cycle of the focal length. The image projector includes an LED and a DMD, for example.

A display system includes an image display device and a pair of shutter glasses. The image display device includes a display panel, a display communication circuit and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to control the display communication circuit to transmit a shutter glasses control signal, and configured to control the display panel to alternately display a normal image and a compensate image according to a timing control signal. The pair of shutter glasses includes a pair of shutters, a glasses communication circuit and a shutter control circuit. The glasses communication circuit is configured to receive the shutter glasses control signal. The shutter control circuit is configured to alternately open and close the pair of shutters according to the shutter glasses control signal.

A stereoscopic display system and a control method of the stereoscopic display system are provided. A rotation device is controlled to rotate at 2n times an image input frequency, so that the rotation device respectively completes n rotations during a period in which stereoscopic glasses receive a left-eye image and a period in which the stereoscopic glasses receive a right-eye image.

Each of the plurality of transmissive portions has a first width in the parallax direction greater than a second width of each of the plurality of less-transmissive portions in the parallax direction. The controller causes the display panel to display a black image in a binocular viewable area on the display panel viewable to two eyes of a user to allow parallax separation of the parallax image.

A three-dimensional display device includes a display panel that displays a parallax image, an optical panel including a plurality of less-transmissive portions and a plurality of transmissive portions repeatedly arranged alternately in a parallax direction, and a controller that controls the display panel. Each of the plurality of transmissive portions has a first width in the parallax direction greater than a second width of each of the plurality of less-transmissive portions in the parallax direction. The controller causes the display panel to display a black image in a binocular viewable area on the display panel viewable to two eyes of a user to allow parallax separation of the parallax image.
System for illuminating a viewer of a display device
Provided is a display device comprising a display panel having an array of display pixel elements for producing a display output; a viewer detecting system rendering data representing 1) the illumination intensity of a body part of the viewer and 2) another property of the body part; at least one illumination source for providing illumination of a body part of the viewer; and a processor configured to 1) process the data representing the illumination intensity of a body part of the viewer and 2) drive the at least one illumination source dependent on said illumination data to adapt the illumination intensity of a body part of the viewer.

Open view, multi-modal, calibrated digital loupe with depth sensing
A digital loupe system is provided which can include a number of features. In one embodiment, the digital loupe system can include a stereo camera pair and a distance sensor. The system can further include a processor configured to perform a transformation to image signals from the stereo camera pair based on a distance measurement from the distance sensor and from camera calibration information. In some examples, the system can use the depth information and the calibration information to correct for parallax between the cameras to provide a multi-channel image. Ergonomic head mounting systems are also provided. In some implementations, the head mounting systems can be configurable to support the weight of a digital loupe system, including placing one or two oculars in a line of sight with an eye of a user, while improving overall ergonomics, including peripheral vision, comfort, stability, and adjustability. Methods of use are also provided.
