VIDEO TRANSMISSION BASED ON INDEPENDENTLY ENCODED BACKGROUND UPDATES

Systems and methods are provided for alleviating bandwidth limitations of video transmission and enhancing the quality of videos at a receiver. In particular, an improved video transmission system is provided for generating high-resolution videos. The systems have therein a transmitter and a receiver; the transmitter includes an outer encoder and a core encoder, while the receiver includes a core decoder and an outer decoder. The outer encoder is adapted to receive the video from a source and separately output a salient video and an encoded background, and the outer decoder is adapted to merge the background with the salient video thereby producing an enhanced video. Also provided is a system that simulates pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) operations without PTZ hardware. Further provided are methods for video transmission whereby a background model is initialized, a background independently encoded, updated incrementally, and the background and the updates transmitted independently from the video.

Encoding and decoding based on blending of sequences of samples along time

Computer processor hardware receives image data specifying element settings for each image of multiple original images in a sequence. The computer processor hardware analyzes the element settings across the multiple original images. The computer processor hardware then utilizes the element settings of the multiple original images in the sequence to produce first encoded image data specifying a set of common image element settings, the set of common image element settings being a baseline to substantially reproduce each of the original images in the sequence.

Disclosed is a multi-reactive video generating method and program that performs various condition playbacks depending on a user's manipulation, based on a video database (e.g., a basic video) in which a general video or a plurality of image frames are stored. According to an embodiment of the inventive concept, various actions (i.e., reactions) may be applied as the multi-reactive video generation file is played with a general video or a combination of a plurality of image frames.

VIRTUAL REALITY PANORAMIC VIDEO SYSTEM USING SCALABLE VIDEO CODING LAYERS
20170347084 · 2017-11-30 · ·

A virtual reality panoramic video system is described that uses scalable video coding layers. One example includes a buffer to receive a wide field of view video, a region extractor to extract regions from the wide field of view video, and a scalable multi-layer video encoder to encode the extracted regions as separate layers and to combine the layers to form an encoded video.

Video compression method, electronic device, and computer program product

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a video compression method, an electronic device, and a computer program product. In a video compression method provided by embodiments of the present disclosure, a video is segmented into multiple segments based on a first feature of an object extracted from the video, where the object has a first change in each of the multiple segments, and the first feature identifies a start state and an end state of the first change; the multiple segments are grouped based on a similarity of the first change of the object among the multiple segments; and the video is compressed based on the groups of the multiple segments. In this way, for a video with periodically repetitive content, the video is compressed by retaining a part of representative video segments, which can save storage space and network transmission resources and improve computation efficiency, thereby reducing computation cost.

CONTENT PROVIDING APPARATUS, DISPLAY APPARATUS, AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

A content providing apparatus is disclosed. The content providing apparatus comprises: a communication unit for communicating with an external apparatus; an image processing unit for generating a compressed image by image-processing an input original image; and a control unit for controlling the communication unit to divide the original image into one or more regions based on the image quality, to obtain characteristic information for each region from the respective regions, and to transmit the obtained characteristic information for each region together with the compressed image to the external apparatus. As the result, the display apparatus may perform image quality improvement operation so that the image quality is close to the original quality level by extracting information required for improving the image quality and transmitting the same together with a compressed image in production and encoding steps before transmitting the image.
