IMAGE INFORMATION DECODING METHOD, IMAGE DECODING METHOD, AND DEVICE USING SAME

The present invention relates to an image information decoding method. The decoding method includes receiving a bit stream including a Network Abstraction Layer (NAL) unit that includes information related to encoded image, and parsing a NAL unit header of the NAL unit. The NAL unit header may not include 1 bit flag information that represents whether a picture is a non-reference picture or a reference picture in the entire bit stream during encoding.

VIDEO CLIENT OPTIMIZATION DURING PAUSE
20230036383 · 2023-02-02 ·

A system and method for providing quality control in immersive video during pausing of a video streaming session. In one embodiment, a paused video frame may comprise a plurality of mixed quality video tiles depending on user gaze vector information. Under pause control, the video quality of all tiles of the paused video frame is equalized such that it is of same value for all the video tiles, which may be the video quality of the tiles presented in a viewport of the client device. The paused video frame having the same quality tiles throughout is used as a replacement video frame, which is presented to the client device player for decoding and displaying instead of the mixed quality video frame while the streaming session is paused.

Layer ID signaling using extension mechanism

A signaling of the layer ID is described which each of the packets of a multi-layered video signal is associated with. In particular, an efficient way of signaling this layer association is achieved, with nevertheless maintaining the backward compatibility with codecs according to which a certain value of the base layer-ID field is restricted to be non-extendable such as base layer-ID value 0 in the base layer-ID field. Instead of circumventing this restriction specifically with respect to this non-extendable base layer-ID value, the layer-ID of portions of the multi-layer data stream is signaled in an extendable manner by sub-dividing the base layer-ID field into a first sub-field and a second sub-field: whenever the first sub-field of the base layer-ID field fulfills a predetermined criterion, an extension layer-ID field is provided, and if the first sub-field of the base layer-ID field does not fulfill the predetermined criterion, the extension layer-ID field is omitted.

REFERENCE PICTURE RESAMPLING

Several techniques for video encoding and video decoding are described. One example method includes performing a conversion between a subpicture in a video picture of a video and a bitstream of the video according to a rule. The rule specifies that multiple syntax elements are used to specify usage of a reference picture resampling tool.

Resilient image compression and decompression

An image processing method includes selecting an image in fixed storage of a computer and loading the selected image into memory of the computer. The method further includes representing the loaded image by a processor of the computer in the memory as an initial two-dimensional array of pixel values. Thereafter, the initial two-dimensional array of pixel values may be transformed into a hierarchy of progressively axially decremented two-dimensional arrays of signs and a pair of one-dimensional values for each 2×2 array of signs amongst the decremented two-dimensional arrays of signs. Finally, each of the two-dimensional arrays of signs and each pair of one-dimensional values may be stored in the fixed storage as a compressed form of the selected image.

Event-based adaptation of coding parameters for video image encoding

The present disclosure relates to encoding of video image using coding parameters, which are adapted based on events related to motion within the video image. Image content is captured by a standard image sensor and an event-triggered sensor, providing an event-signal indicating changes (e.g. amount and time-spatial location) of image intensity. Objects are detected within the video image, based on the event signal assessing motion of the object, and their textures extracted. The spatial-time coding parameters of the video image are determined based on the location and strength of the event signal, and the extent to which the detected objects moves.
