METHODS AND APPARATUS TO EXTEND A TIMESTAMP RANGE SUPPORTED BY A WATERMARK WITHOUT BREAKING BACKWARDS COMPATABILITY
20220351324 · 2022-11-03 ·

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to extend a timestamp range supported by a watermark without breaking backwards compatibility are disclosed. An example watermark encoder includes a counter to increment symbols of a watermark timestamp and a controller to control the counter to increment the symbols of the watermark timestamp based on a key, the controller to cause the counter to restrict ones of the symbol values to increment over one of a first range of symbol values or a second range of symbol values based on a value of the key, the second range of symbol values different from the first range of symbol values.

Method and apparatus for selection of content from a stream of data

A main stream contains successive content elements of video and/or audio information that encode video and/or audio information at a first data rate. A computation circuit (144) computes main fingerprints from the successive content elements. A reference stream is received having a second data rate lower than the first data rate. The reference stream defines a sequence of the reference fingerprints. A comparator unit (144) compares the main fingerprints with the reference fingerprints. The main stream is monitored for the presence of inserted content elements between original content elements, where the original content elements have main fingerprints that match successive reference fingerprints and the inserted content elements have main fingerprints that do not match reference fingerprints. Rendering of inserted content elements to be skipped. In an embodiment when more than one content element matches only one is rendered. In another embodiment matching is used to control zapping to or from the main stream. In another embodiment matching is used to control linking of separately received mark-up information such as subtitles to points in the main stream.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ENCODING AND DECODING A LARGE FIELD OF VIEW VIDEO
20220345728 · 2022-10-27 ·

A method for coding/decoding a large field of view video into a bitstream in an immersive rendering system is disclosed. At least one picture of said large field of view video is represented as a surface, said surface being projected onto at least one 2D picture using a projection function. For at least one current block of said at least one 2D picture, at least one item of information representative of a modification of a 2D spatial neighborhood is determined according to said projection function. A group of neighboring blocks using said at least on item of information representative of a modification is determined and at least one part of encoding/decoding of said current block is performed using said determined group of neighboring blocks.
