Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for remapping for mixed dynamic range content. In one aspect, a method for remapping for mixed dynamic range content, the method includes obtaining an image to be displayed that includes both first dynamic range content and second dynamic range content, determining that the image includes first dynamic range content at a first pixel, determining a first remapped value for the first pixel based on a lookup table for first dynamic range content and an initial value for the first pixel, providing the first remapped value for the first pixel for display, determining that the image includes second dynamic range content at a second pixel, determining a second remapped value for the second pixel based on a second initial value for the second pixel, and providing the second remapped value for the second pixel for display.

Method and Apparatus for Selection of Content From a Stream of Data

A main stream contains successive content elements of video and/or audio information that encode video and/or audio information at a first data rate. A computation circuit (144) computes main fingerprints from the successive content elements. A reference stream is received having a second data rate lower than the first data rate. The reference stream defines a sequence of the reference fingerprints. A comparator unit (144) compares the main fingerprints with the reference fingerprints. The main stream is monitored for the presence of inserted content elements between original content elements, where the original content elements have main fingerprints that match successive reference fingerprints and the inserted content elements have main fingerprints that do not match reference fingerprints. Rendering of inserted content elements to be skipped. In an embodiment when more than one content element matches only one is rendered. In another embodiment matching is used to control zapping to or from the main stream. In another embodiment matching is used to control linking of separately received mark-up information such as subtitles to points in the main stream.

Scalable video coding system with parameter signaling

A method is provided for encoding a digital video to provide for improved color mapping. The digital video has values in a first color space, and the method includes performing a color mapping operation on values in each sub-picture to convert the values in the first color space to values in a second, narrower, color space, wherein the color mapping operation is adapted based on the content of each sub-picture, encoding the values in the second color space into a base layer, performing a reverse color mapping operation on decoded values from the base layer in the second color space in each sub-picture to generate a reconstructed reference frame having values in the first color space, encoding values in the first color space into an enhancement layer based at least in part on the reconstructed reference frame, combining the base layer and the enhancement layer into a bitstream, sending the bitstream to a decoder, and sending one or more parameters to the decoder that describe the adaption of the reverse color mapping operation for at least some sub-pictures.

Method and apparatus for harmonizing multiple sign bit hiding and residual sign prediction

The present invention relates to an improved apparatus and method for harmonizing both Sign Bit Hiding (SBH) and Residual Sign Prediction (RSP) techniques in video coding. In order to improve coding efficiency, a list of transform coefficients, to which RSP is to be applied is prepared in advance of selecting a coefficient to which SBH is applied. Thereby, the RSP list can be populated in such a manner that the highest coding efficiency may be expected. Subsequently, one or more coefficients for applying SBH are selected so as not to be included in the list.

System, method, and computer program for encoding and decoding a unique signature in a video file

The present disclosure describes a system, method, and computer program for encoding and decoding a unique signature for a user in a video file, wherein the video file was created using a video format that does not specifically support embedding a unique signature in the video file. A unique signature, comprising a plurality of data bits, is associated with a user and divided into groups. For each group, a different sine wave is created for each bit in the group. The frequencies of the sine waves correspond to the types of bits, and the amplitudes of the sine waves indicate the values of the bits. Group signals are overdubbed on the infrasound range of the audio track of the video file. The unique signature is decoded from the video file by analyzing the frequencies and amplitudes of sine waves in the infrasound range of the audio track.

A method for encoding an image having been cut up into partitions. The method includes: predicting data of a current partition based on an already encoded and then decoded reference partition, generating a predicted partition; determining residual data by comparing data relating to the current partition with the predicted partition, the residual data associated with various digital data items. Prior producing a signal containing the encoded information, performing the following steps: determining, from the predetermined residual data, a subset containing residual data capable of being modified; calculating the value of a function representative of the residual data; comparing the calculated value with a value of at least one of the digital data items; based on the comparison, modification or non-modification of at least one of the residual data items of the subset; and, in the event of a modification, entropy encoding the at least one modified residual data item.
