Frequency band selection and processing techniques for media source detection
Example methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture (i.e., physical storage media) to perform media source detection based on frequency band selection and processing are disclosed. Example meters disclosed herein are to compare a first audio signal from a monitored media device with a second audio signal from a first one of a plurality of media sources in communication with the monitored media device to determine a sequence of match results, the first audio signal associated with media presented by the media device. Disclosed example meters are also to compute a standard deviation of time delays associated with respective ones of the match results. Disclosed example meters are further to determine whether the first one of the media sources is a source of the media presented by the monitored media device based on the standard deviation.
Dynamic adjustment of electronic program guide displays based on viewer preferences for minimizing navigation in VOD program selection
Items of video content offered for viewing on a video-on-demand (VOD) platform of a digital TV service provider are each assigned a respective title and hierarchical address corresponding to hierarchically-arranged categories and subcategories within which the title for the video content is to be categorized. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. The EPG dynamically adjust its display listings of each level of categories, subcategories, and titles in order to minimize the number of remote control keypresses needed for a viewer to navigate to a title of interest. In one basic form, the EPG display is reordered by listing more frequently visited categories or subcategories first, and other less frequently visited categories or subcategories lower on the listing or out-of-sight on another page of the display.
Method and device of displaying multi-screen interactive
The present application discloses techniques of implementing multi-screen display of interactive data. The techniques comprise receiving an interaction request from another computing device; establishing an interactive data connection channel with the other computing device according to the interaction request; receiving interactive data for the other computing device through the interactive data connection channel; determining a plurality of types of interactive data and corresponding interactive instructions included in the interactive data by analyzing field data in a data format of the interactive data based on a predetermined data format table; and performing display of the plurality of types of interactive data based on the corresponding interactive instructions.
Method and system for controlling lighting in a viewing area of a content-presentation device
In one aspect, a method includes receiving video content comprising a first data portion comprising parameters that control a visual appearance of frames of video content presented by a content-presentation device. The content-presentation device is communicatively coupled to a light unit that is (i) present in a viewing area of the content-presentation device and (ii) configured to provide ambient light in the viewing area. The method also includes extracting, from the received video content, a second data portion, separate from the first data portion, specifying one or more light control parameters that a controller associated with the light unit is configured to interpret as instructions for controlling the light unit. The method also includes transmitting the extracted second data portion to the controller to facilitate the controller controlling the light unit according to the specified one or more light control parameters.
Synchronizing video content with extrinsic data
Disclosed are various embodiments for associating and synchronizing extrinsic data with video content at particular points of time in the video content. In one embodiment, an application identifies a video content feature currently being presented via a display device. A current time in the video content feature are determined. Performers potentially depicted in the video content feature at the current time are determined. The application then generates a user interface configured to receive a user selection of a particular performer from the performers, where the user selection indicates that the particular performer is depicted in the video content feature at the current time.
Intelligent content queuing from a secondary device
Example embodiments provide systems and methods for managing intelligent content queuing from a secondary device for content delivery to a primary device. A content queuing system on the secondary device generates and displays a playlist interface on the secondary device. A selection of a content item to be added to a playlist is received. The content queuing system determines that addition of the content item causes a live content item to overlap with an on-demand content item on the playlist. As a result, the content queuing system creates at least two segments for the on-demand content item. The live content item is positioned between the first and a second segment on the playlist. The first segment is scheduled to end at a start time of the live content item and the second segment is scheduled to begin at an ending time of the live content item.
Digital device transmitting menu data to an external device, and control method thereof
In the present specification, a digital device and a method of processing data in said digital device are disclosed. Here, a digital device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a memory; a user interface unit that receives a menu request signal through a remote application executed in an external device; a display unit that displays an executed application; and a control unit that determines the properties of the received menu request signal on the basis of the application being displayed and generates menu data, implements controlling to transmit the generated menu data to the external device and output the menu data through a screen of the external device, and when a menu item selection signal of the menu output from the external device is received, implements controlling to transmit or activate menu data corresponding to the menu item selection signal.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONNECTING A PUBLIC DEVICE TO A PRIVATE DEVICE WITH PRE-INSTALLED CONTENT MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS
Systems and methods for providing access to media content by connecting, to a public device, a private device that has an installed application associated with the media content. A media guidance application may receive a communication from a private device, running a private interface application, requesting to access content using the public device. In response, the media guidance application may retrieve, at the public device, a public interface application associated with the private interface application, from a content provider of the content. The private interface application may be configured to control a graphical user interface of the public interface application. Accordingly, the user may be able to access content via the public device when the private device is within a predetermined proximity to the public device.
Recording System and Methods of Using Same
Recording equipment, as well as methods of using the recording equipment, methods of experiencing recorded episodes, and methods of distributing the recorded episodes.
Systems, methods, and storage media for authenticating a remote viewing device for rendering digital content
Systems, methods, and storage media for authenticating a remote viewing device for rendering digital content are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: transmit an initial display to be displayed on the viewing device; receive a request, from the viewing device, to view content; transmit an indication of the request to a mobile device associated with a user who is authorized to view the content; receive, from the mobile device, approval of the viewing device for viewing the content; and authenticate the viewing device for viewing the content in response to the approval of viewing device whereby the content can be viewed on the viewing device.
