Two-stage content item selection process incorporating brand value
An online system presents content in videos to users. Content providers may value having their content injected into videos from certain sources more than others. This preferences is quantified as a brand value score. The brand value score is determined as a function of user engagement with a source of the video and, to account for brand value, the system performs a two-stage auction. First, the system determines whether to inject any content into a video by determining a distribution of brand value of videos per demand for videos in a previous period and filling a projected demand for the content in a current period to determine a brand value threshold. Then, any videos having a brand value above the threshold are eligible for the second stage of the selection process where the system performs an auction where projected benefit of presenting the content is compared to projected loss.
Systems and methods for generating a watch schedule and compressed content to complete a series before expiration
Systems and methods are described herein for generating a watch schedule and compressed series for a user for a series that is expected to become unavailable. Availability data indicating when a content series will become unavailable is received and compared to user progression habits. If the content series will become unavailable before the user will complete it, a watch schedule may be offered to the user. If the user subsequently falls behind on this watch schedule, a compressed version of the content series may be offered to the user.
System and method to identify and recommend media consumption options based on viewer suggestions
Systems and methods for determining, based on recommendations provided by users that have consumed a media asset, which consumption options may be configured on a media device such that when configured enhance the user viewing experience for a specific media asset. The method includes accessing comments posted by other users that have consumed the media asset. The comments are analyzed to determine a consumption option recommendation. If the number of comments meet a threshold value, then the system either automatically configures the media device or configures the media device upon user approval with the recommended consumption option. The recommendation to configure a consumption option on the media device is made only if the recommendation is supported by the media device. The system also detects through audio and image analysis which users are consuming the media asset and accordingly configures the consumption options to their preferences.
ACCOUNT BEHAVIOR PREDICTION USING PREDICTION NETWORK
In some embodiments, a method inputs a sequence of historical behaviors for a plurality of instances of content into a prediction network to generate a sequence of values that model the sequence of historical behaviors. A restriction on an operation performed by the prediction network is based on a characteristic of an viewing behavior. A sequence of attention scores is generated based on a similarity of a current behavior for a first instance of content to respective instances of historical behaviors in the sequence of historical behaviors. The method adjusts respective values based on corresponding attention scores to generate an adjusted sequence of values. The adjusted sequence of features are sampled to generate an output from the prediction network that models the sequence of historical behaviors based on the current behavior. The output for determining a prediction if the current behavior is indicative of the viewing behavior.
CULTURAL DISTANCE PREDICTION SYSTEM FOR MEDIA ASSET
Various embodiments described herein support or provide for cultural distance prediction operations of a media asset, such as determining events in a media asset, determining geographical region corresponding to the culture of origin and the culture of destination, accessing weight values of cultural attribute categories respectively associated with the geographical regions of the culture of origin and the culture of destination, generating cultural distance score of events, and causing display of the cultural distance score on a user interface of a client device.
Methods of and systems for content search based on environment sampling
The present disclosure provides user interface methods of and systems for displaying at least one available action overlaid on an image, comprising displaying an image; selecting at least one action and assigning a ranking weight thereto based on at least one of (1) image content, (2) current device location, (3) location at which the image was taken, (4) date of capturing the image; (5) time of capturing the image; and (6) a user preference signature representing prior actions chosen by a user and content preferences learned about the user; and ranking the at least one action based on its assigned ranking weight.
Detection of items in a home
Various arrangements for detecting items in home are presented. Imaging devices may capture images of a user's home. The images may be analyzed and compared against a user approved list of item definitions. Using the definitions, items, brands, trademarks, and the like may be identified in the images. The items identified in the images may be used to determine preferences of a user and provide targeted marketing content using the television receiver. In some cases, analysis of items in a home may be used to determine the effectiveness of marketing content by determining causality or correlations between marketing content viewed by a user and items in the home.
Intelligent automated assistant for TV user interactions
Systems and processes are disclosed for controlling television user interactions using a virtual assistant. In an example process, a virtual assistant can interact with a television set-top box to control content shown on a television display. Speech input for the virtual assistant can be received from a device with a microphone. The speech input can comprise a query associated with content shown on the television display. A user intent of the query can be determined based on one or more of the content shown on the television display and a viewing history of media content. A result of the query can be caused to be displayed based on the determined user intent.
Methods and apparatus to assign viewers to media meter data
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to assign viewers to media meter data are disclosed. An apparatus includes memory, and a processor to execute instructions to: determine first probabilities for first panelists in a first household based on a first number of minutes of first media presented by a first media presentation device monitored by a first meter, determine second probabilities for second panelists in a plurality of second households based on a second number of minutes of second media presented by second media presentation devices monitored by a plurality of second meters, compare the first probabilities and the second probabilities to identify a candidate household from the plurality of second households to associated with the first household, and impute respective portions of the first number of minutes to corresponding ones of the first panelists when monitored behavior of the candidate household matches monitored behavior of the first household.
Systems and methods for generating a media-based result to an ambiguous query
Systems and methods are described herein for providing a search result based on an ambiguous voice query. The system comprises receiving an ambiguous voice query relating to an object from a user, retrieving a viewing history of the user for about a list of media assets viewed by the user, determining, from the list of media asset, a media asset that is likely to contain the object based at least in part on metadata of the media asset and the ambiguous voice query, searching content of the determined media asset to identify a segment within the media asset that contains the object, and generating a display of information about the object identified from the segment.
