Electronic apparatus and control method thereof
An electronic apparatus includes a processor. The processor is configured to: obtain information about weighted values respectively assigned to a plurality of items having values that represent content features of a plurality of pieces of content, wherein the weighted values are assigned as higher weight values to items corresponding to the content features preferred by according to genres of content; identify a user content viewed by a user of the electronic apparatus; calculate similarities in values of the plurality of items, respectively, between a plurality of pieces of recommendable content and the user content, respectively; calculate recommendation scores of the plurality of pieces of content, based on the calculated similarities and the weighted values assigned to the items according to the genres; and perform a recommendation operation for one or more content pieces, of which the calculated recommendation score is equal to or higher than a preset ranking.
Method and apparatus for overlaying themed imagery onto real-world objects in a head-mounted display device
Method and apparatus for overlaying themed imagery onto real-world objects in a head-mounted display device (HMDD). A computing device receives, from an HMDD, depth data that identifies distances from the HMDD to surfaces of a plurality of objects in a user space. The computing device detects at least one object in the user space based at least in part on the depth data. The computing device determines a classification of video content being presented on a display system of the HMDD. The computing device selects, based on the classification, a particular image theme from a plurality of different image themes, the image theme comprising one or more image textures. The computing device sends, to the HMDD, at least one image texture for overlaying the at least one object during presentation of the at least one object on the display system of the HMDD in conjunction with the video content.
Merging Permissions and Content Access
Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining that a wireless device associated with one user account is proximate to a computing device associated with another user account. In response to determining the proximity of the two devices, one or more of the devices may receive merged access to permissions and/or content associated with the two user accounts. In response to determining that the wireless device is not proximate to the computing device, the devices may no longer receive merged access to permissions and/or content associated with the two user accounts.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MINIMIZING OBSTRUCTION OF A MEDIA ASSET BY AN OVERLAY BY PREDICTING A PATH OF MOVEMENT OF AN OBJECT OF INTEREST OF THE MEDIA ASSET AND AVOIDING PLACEMENT OF THE OVERLAY IN THE PATH OF MOVEMENT
Systems and methods are provided herein for minimizing obstruction of a media asset by an overlay by predicting a path of movement of an object of interest of the media asset and avoiding placement of the overlay in the path of movement. To this end, a media guidance application may detect an object of interest in a first frame of a media asset, and may determine a determining a first location of the object in the first frame and a second location of the object of interest in a second frame. The media guidance application may calculate, based on the first location and the second location, a projected location of the object of interest in a third frame of the media asset, and may generate for display an overlay in a location that does not overlap with any of the first location, the second location, and the projected location.
IDENTIFYING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY A USER OF A COMPUTING DEVICE BASED ON MEDIA CONSUMPTION
A method includes identifying, based on sensor data received by a motion sensor, a physical activity performed by a user of the computing system during a time period and determining whether the user consumed media during the time period that the user performed the physical activity. The method also includes responsive to determining that the user consumed the media during the time period that the user performed the physical activity, determining, based on data indicative of the media consumed by the user, an updated physical activity performed by the user during the time period; and outputting data indicating the updated physical activity.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DISTRIBUTING MEDIA GUIDANCE AMONG MULTIPLE DEVICES
Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that distributes media guidance application operations between multiple devices based on one or more criteria associated with those devices. For example, the media guidance application may determine the plurality of operations performed by a target device and distribute the plurality of operations among devices near that target device.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR RECOMMENDING TO A FIRST USER MEDIA ASSETS FOR INCLUSION IN A PLAYLIST FOR A SECOND USER BASED ON THE SECOND USER'S VIEWING ACTIVITY
Systems and methods for providing a first user with recommendations of media assets for inclusion in a playlist for a second user based on the second user's viewing activity. These systems and methods receive, from the second user, an expression of disinterest in a media asset included in the playlist for the second user, update a user profile associated with the second user based on the expression of disinterest, and determine a recommendation for another media asset based on the updated user profile associated with the second user. The systems and methods provide the recommendation to the first user. By recommending media assets that the second user is least likely to object to, these systems and methods reduce the frequency of disruptive requests for media assets from the second user.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING FOR DISPLAY RECOMMENDATIONS THAT ARE TEMPORALLY RELEVANT TO ACTIVITIES OF A USER AND ARE CONTEXTUALLY RELEVANT TO A PORTION OF A MEDIA ASSET THAT THE USER IS CONSUMING
Systems and methods are provided herein for displaying recommendations that are temporally relevant to activities of a user and are contextually relevant to a portion of viewed media. This may be accomplished by a media guidance application identifying activities a user has planned, as well as respective times for which each of the plurality of activities was planned to be performed by the user. The media guidance application may filter the activities by determining which of the first plurality of activities has a corresponding respective time that is within a threshold period of time. The media guidance application may then identify characteristics of each filtered activity and of a media asset that the user is consuming at the present moment, and may compute whether the characteristics match. If the characteristics match, the media guidance application may generate for display a recommendation relating to the respective activity.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREVENTING CORRUPTION OF USER VIEWING PROFILES
Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in conventional media systems via a novel technique to prevent corruption of a user's viewing profile. In some aspects, a user of an interactive media guidance application may select a media asset for viewing on a user device. The interactive media guidance application may receive a user viewing profile for the user from a remote server. If the media asset is determined to not be consistent with the user viewing profile, the interactive media guidance application may retrieve another user viewing profile for another user of the user device. If the media asset is determined to be consistent with the other user viewing profile, the interactive media guidance application may update the other user viewing profile based on the media asset.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGEMENT OF MEDIA CONTENT SUBSCRIPTIONS
Systems and methods are provided for managing subscriptions. A media guidance application obtaining viewing patterns of a subscriber and determining a first and second media package of interest to the subscriber. A first and second release schedule are obtained related to media content in the first and second media packages. The media guidance application predicts a first viewing impact of the first subscription and a second viewing impact of the second subscription, for the upcoming time period, wherein the viewing impact indicates a total predicted amount of time spent viewing the media packages in the upcoming time period. An available amount of time for viewing media in the upcoming time period is also determined. The media guidance application generates a subscription recommendation for the upcoming time period based on the first viewing impact, second viewing impact, and available amount of time for viewing media in the upcoming time period.
