Geometric configuration of device for launching tranverse magnetic waves
Disclosed are one or more preferred geometric configurations for a device communicably coupled to a power transmission line and capable of launching transverse electromagnetic waves onto the transmission line. The waves propagate data received from a data source and may include a reflector and a coupler adjacent to each other through a transverse magnetic wave that propagates longitudinally along the surface of the transmission line.
Media object distribution
A method that comprises receiving at a network connected server from a first client terminal, a message comprising, an user application ID of a user selecting a media object using a user interface presented on a display of the first client terminal and the media object, generating a web document which presents a browser user interface and the media object when accessed by a browser, the web document having a network accessible storage address, sending the network accessible storage address from the network connected server to allow a browser installed in a second client terminal to use of the network accessible storage address to display the media object the browser user interface, identifying a usage of the browser user interface for inputting a reaction to the media object by a user of the second client terminal, and forwarding the reaction to the first client terminal using the sender user ID.
Broadcast signal transmitting method, broadcast signal receiving method, broadcast signal transmitting apparatus, and broadcast signal receiving apparatus
Provided is a method for transmitting a broadcast signal. The method includes generating a plurality of input packets including broadcast data, generating at least one link layer packet using the input packets, wherein a header of the link layer packet includes packet type information and packet configuration information, the packet type information indicates a type of an input packet included in a payload of the link layer packet, and the packet configuration information indicates a payload configuration of the link layer packet, generating a broadcast signal using the link layer packet, and transmitting the broadcast signal.
Computing system with content-characteristic-based trigger feature
In one aspect, an example method includes (i) receiving, by a computing system, media content; (ii) generating, by the computing system, a fingerprint of a portion of the received media content; (iii) determining, by the computing system, that the received media content has a predefined characteristic; (iv) responsive to determining that the received media content has the predefined characteristic, transmitting, by the computing system, the generated fingerprint to a content identification server to identify the portion of the received media content; and (v) performing an action based on the identified portion of media content.
ATSC 3.0 advertising notification using event streams
An Event Streams ‘event’ which contains information about ads is sent via ATSC 3.0 to a receiver player along with an xlinkResolution signal. This information includes but is not limited to time stamps for when the ads will start and stop. When this xlinkResolution is sent to the receiver player, the receiver player sends a notification to a broadcaster app containing the information about start and stop time for presenting the ad. Using this information, the broadcaster app updates itself so that, for example, the broadcaster app can present a message on a user interface regarding the subject of the ad, or present content related to but different from the ad along with the ad itself.
Streaming Assistance System and Computer-Implemented Method
A streaming assistance system may be provided which may be connected to at least two network links, for example via respective network interfaces. Both network links may have different characteristics, e.g., in terms of throughput, utilization, latency, etc. The streaming assistance system may assist in the streaming of media content to a client device by identifying a media fragment which is likely to be requested by the client device in the (near) future, selecting a network link to be used for the streaming of the media segment, and effecting a prefetching of the media segment via the selected network link. In some embodiments, the streaming assistance system may be a DASH Aware Network Element (DANE).
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR INTEGRATING MEDIA ACROSS A WIDE AREA NETWORK
A system for distributing media includes a wide area network (WAN), a media player coupled to the WAN at a first home, and a media server coupled to the WAN at a second home for providing media. A service is coupled to the WAN for receiving a request for media from the media player and for establishing a connection between the first and second homes over the WAN. Media is streamed across the WAN from the second home to the first home. The system may include a storage device coupled to the media player where media is transferred across the WAN for storage at the storage device. A media device may be coupled to the media player for playing the streamed/transferred media where the media player and the media device may comprise a television, stereo, or computer and the media item may comprise video, photographs, or audio.
MULTIDIMENSIONAL METADATA FOR PARALLEL PROCESSING OF SEGMENTED MEDIA DATA
A method executed by at least one processor, the method comprising: segmenting a multidimensional media stream into a plurality of segments of multidimensional media in a multidimensional space; representing each segment of the plurality of segments of multidimensional media using a respective sequence vector, the respective sequence vector comprising one or more predefined multidimensional metadata, wherein the predefined multidimensional metadata includes one of a starting vector, a length vector, and a scaling vector, and a startcode; and deriving a network based media processing (NBMP) workflow based on the respective sequence vectors of each segment of the plurality of segments.

System for providing new content related to content currently being accessed
A virtual communication bus for sharing information between applications is provided. When a user accesses media content on a television or content via an application on a virtual communication bus, data associated with the media content or the application content may be stored in a communal memory in a standard format, and may be accessed by one or more other applications on the virtual communication bus. The data may include data associated with interactions between the user and an application and interaction between applications. The data may be utilized to determine relevant information to provide the user. When a user accesses another application (on a same or another device), information determined to be relevant to the user may be provided. Data may be stored and shared between applications on the virtual communication bus.
