Method of Broadcasting Contents by Streaming in a Peer-to-Peer Network
The present invention relates to a method of broadcasting a content by streaming in a peer-to-peer network (10) of client devices (11, 12, 13) which is connected to a content server (2), said content consisting of a sequence of segments stored on data storage means of the content server (2), each client device (11, 12, 13) comprising a buffer memory storing in a temporary manner at least one segment of said content, the method being characterized in that each client device (11, 12, 13) is associated with a level defining a minimal list of segments of the content that have to be stored by the buffer memory of the device (11, 12, 13), the method comprising steps of: (a) connection of a new client device (14) to the peer-to-peer network (10); (b) assignment of a level to the new client device (14) as a function of the number of client devices (11, 12, 13) associated with each level; (c) transmission to said new client device (14) from the server (2) of at least each segment of the content which is absent from the buffer memory of the new client device (14), which belongs to said list of segments of the content corresponding to the level assigned to the new client device (14).
Apparatus, systems and methods for accessing an initial portion of a media content event
Systems and methods are operable to retrieve a previously broadcast initial portion of a media content event. An exemplary embodiment stores a media content event at a first media device as the media content event is communicated over a broadcast system; receives a request at the first media device from a second media device, wherein the request identifies an initial portion of a media content event that has previously been communicated over a broadcast system; identifies the initial portion of the media content event from the stored media content event; retrieves the identified initial portion of the media content event; and communicates the initial portion of the media content event from the first media device to the second media device.
System and method for multipath communication management in an aircraft
Disclosed is a method and seat centric device for providing data over a plurality of communication channels inside an aircraft. In one aspect, the method comprises obtaining storage information of data from one or more aircraft servers and a request for subset of data from a seat centric device. The method further comprises, identifying location of the subset of data in at least one of the one or more aircraft servers based on an analysis of the request the storage information data and an available communication channels between the seat centric device and the aircraft server. Furthermore, the method comprises initializing a multipath protocol for transfer of the subset of data associated with the request between the aircraft server and the seat centric device and initiating data transfer associated with the request simultaneously over the available communication channels for providing the subset of data to seat centric device.
Method And System For Realizing Streaming Media Data Seamlessly Connecting In Intelligent Home
The present application is applied to the field of communication technology, and provides a method and system for realizing seamless connection of streaming media data in a smart home. The method includes: caching, by a streaming media server, streaming media data between a current frame and a latest streaming media data frame in a streaming media file, the latest streaming media data frame is a streaming media data frame last received from a network, and the current frame is a first streaming media data frame corresponding to a current play progress when a first client plays the streaming media file; transmitting, by the streaming media server, streaming media data starting from the current frame to a second client requesting the streaming media file; transmitting, by the second client, a second streaming media data frame corresponding to a current play progress when playing the streaming media file to the streaming media server. In the present disclosure, when two mutually isolated terminals play the streaming media data, one terminal may resume contents of another terminal and fast seamless switch is achieved, thereby making the streaming media data be more easily transferred between different smart terminals.

Video analytics with pre-processing at the source end
A method for performing video analytics includes receiving at a source end video data including first video data relating to an event of interest. Using video analytics, other than a data compression process, pre-processing of the video data is performed at the source end to reduce the bandwidth requirement for transmitting the video data to below a bandwidth limit of a Wide Area Network (WAN) over which the video data is to be transmitted. The pre-processed video data is transmitted to a central server via the WAN, where other video analytics processing of the pre-processed video data is performed. Based on a result of the other video analytics processing, a signal is generated for performing a predetermined action, in response to an occurrence of the event of interest at the source end.
Multistream placeshifting
Disclosure is directed to managing more than one placeshifting transmission at a target device. The target device may be configured to receive a first video from a first placeshifting source and a second video from a second placeshifting source. The target device may additionally be configured to simultaneously output the first and second video on an output device, using various display screen configurations such as picture-in-picture, split screen, windows, and so. The first and second placeshifting sources may be content receivers having integrated placeshifting functions or may be content receivers provided in association with stand-alone placeshifting devices. A dual-tuner content receiver may also provide both the first and second placeshifting sources to the target device.
Methods and devices for switching between peer-to-peer and multimedia broadcast multicast service
Methods and radio communication network systems enable switching between P2P-based streaming and MBMS-based streaming depending on a number of peers in the same area, streaming the same content and having an MBMS-based streaming capability.
Personal measurement devices for media consumption studies
A method for conducting a media consumption study, includes at a processor of a position marker placed in a study site in a vicinity of a fixed media device; receiving a signal broadcast from a personal measurement device; determining signal information of the received broadcast signal, the signal information including identification information of the personal measurement device, and one or more signal characteristics; comparing the one or more signal characteristics to threshold values; and based on the comparison, determining the personal measurement device is in proximity to the fixed media device.
