The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to encode and/or decode video data. Immersive media data is accessed that comprises a hierarchical track structure comprising at least (a) a first track at a first level of the hierarchical track structure comprising first immersive media elementary data, wherein the first track is a parameter track, and the first immersive media elementary data comprises timed metadata, and (b) a second track at a second level in the hierarchical track structure that is different than the first level of the first track, the second track comprising metadata specifying an immersive media track derivation operation. The immersive media track derivation operation is performed on at least the first immersive media elementary data to generate composite immersive media data for the second track.

Gateway for translating signals between a legacy frequency split in a home network and a high frequency split in a communications network

Particular embodiments use a network device, such as a gateway, as an interface between a first network, such as a hybrid fiber coax (HFC) network, and a second network, such as a home network. The first network includes a frequency spectrum that may be considered “high split”, and the second network has a frequency split that is used by legacy set-top box boxes. A head-end sends a network downstream signal that includes the out of band downstream signal in the downstream frequency band using the HFC network's frequency split. The out of band downstream signal may be represented by digital data. The gateway can then determine samples from the digital data, which are then used to reproduce the out of band downstream signal at the desired frequency for the home network. That is, the out of band downstream signal may be recreated in the frequency range of 70-130 MHz.

There is also disclosed a method comprising receiving the container file; receiving the metadata item; and parsing from the container file the scope information; selecting one or more of said at least two media data units on the basis of the scope information; and determining the validity of the metadata item for said one or more of said at least two media data units.
