HIGH RESOLUTION WIDE FIELD OF VIEW DIGITAL NIGHT VISION SYSTEM
A wide field of view night vision system is described. The system comprises a head attachment apparatus configured to attach to a user's head and a night vision subsystem. The night vision subsystem comprises one or more night vision image sensors attached to the head attachment apparatus. Each sensor receives input light and produces a digital image of the input light. A processor processes the digital image(s) to produce a wide-field image. The wide-field image spans at least 60 degrees of a user's horizontal field of view. A display and eyepiece attached to the head attachment apparatus receives and displays the wide-field image. The eyepiece is positionable between the display and the user's eye to image the wide-field image into the user's eye.

The sky camera system includes an objective lens having a field of view of greater than about 170 degrees; a spatial light modulator at an image plane of the objective lens, wherein the spatial light modulator is configured to attenuate light from objects in images captured by the objective lens; a semiconductor image sensor; and one or more relay lens configured to project the images from the spatial light modulator to the semiconductor image sensor. Techniques for use of the one or more of the sky camera systems for optical flow based cloud tracking and three-dimensional cloud analysis are also provided.
SCENE RECONSTRUCTION BY ASSEMBLING IMAGES
A method for inspecting a surface (12) of a piece of nuclear power plant equipment includes scanning the surface (12) with an acquisition field (20) of a matrix array camera (14). The acquisition field (20) moves relative to the surface (12) at a movement speed. The method also includes acquiring, by means of the matrix array camera (14), an image (22) of the acquisition field (20), with a certain acquisition frequency. Each image (22) includes a first number of lines of pixels. The method also includes extracting, from each image (22), a first set of lines, the first set comprising a second number of continuous lines of pixels, the second number being between 2 and the first number; and constituting a final image (32) of the surface (12) by juxtaposing the lines extracted from each image (22). The movement speed, the acquisition frequency, the first number of lines and the second number of lines are chosen such that the final image (32) covers the entire surface (12) without interruption.
Preview Image Acquisition User Interface for Linear Panoramic Image Stitching
A system and method that allows the capture of a series of images to create a single linear panoramic image is disclosed. The method includes capturing an image, dynamically comparing a previously captured image with a preview image on a display of a capture device until a predetermined overlap threshold is satisfied, generating a user interface to provide feedback on the display of the capture device to guide a movement of the capture device, and capturing the preview image with enough overlap with the previously captured image with little to no tilt for creating a linear panorama.
IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE DISPLAY METHOD, IMAGE DISPLAY PROGRAM, IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND IMAGE PROCESSING PROGRAM
An image display system includes an image acquisition unit which acquires an image, an area setting unit which sets a plurality of viewing areas to which the image is to be assigned according to a direction of the image, an image assignment unit which assigns the image to each of the plurality of viewing areas, an operation determination unit which discriminates an operation in a first viewing area among the plurality of viewing areas each having the image assigned thereto, and a display control unit which displays the image in the first viewing area and the image in a second viewing area other than the first viewing area among the plurality of viewing areas concurrently based on a result of the discrimination by the operation determination unit.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE PANORAMIC IMAGE GENERATION
An imaging system for adaptively generating panoramic images and methods for manufacturing and using same are provided. The system includes an imaging device configured to capture digital images at a plurality of image capture positions. The system further includes a processor configured to identify an overlapping portion of first and second images captured at respective first and second image capture positions, determine a stitching position quality measure for a plurality of stitching positions in the overlapping portion of the first and second images, and select a stitching position based on the determined stitching position quality measures of the plurality of stitching positions of the first and second images. The processor is also configured to stitch the first and second images together at the selected stitching position to generate a panoramic image and determine a third image capture position based on the stitching position quality measure.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT
An information processing apparatus configured to paste a full-spherical panoramic image along an inner wall of a virtual three-dimensional sphere; calculate an arrangement position for arranging a planar image closer to a center point of the virtual three-dimensional sphere than the inner wall, in such an orientation that a line-of-sight direction from the center point to the inner wall and a perpendicular line of the planar image are parallel to each other, the planar image being obtained by pasting an embedding image to be embedded in the full-spherical panoramic image, on a two-dimensional plane; and display a display image on a display unit. The display image is a two-dimensional image viewed from the center point in the line-of-sight direction in a state in which the full-spherical panoramic image is pasted along the inner wall of the virtual three-dimensional sphere and the planar image is arranged at an arrangement position.
IMAGING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GENERATING AN UNDISTORTED WIDE VIEW IMAGE
Certain aspects of the technology disclosed herein involve combining images to generate a wide view image of a surrounding environment. Images can be recorded using an stand-alone imaging device having wide angle lenses and/or normal lenses. Images from the imaging device can be combined using methods described herein. In an embodiment, a pixel correspondence between a first image and a second image can be determined, based on a corresponding overlap area associated with the first image and the second image. Corresponding pixels in the corresponding overlap area associated with the first image and the second image can be merged based on a weight assigned to each of the corresponding pixels.
