The server is connected to the gateway. The gateway carries out the processes of: receiving, from each controller, information indicative of an internal state of the piece of equipment; receiving, from each sensor, information indicative of an external state of the piece of equipment; and transmitting these pieces of information to the server. The server carries out a process of combining and outputting the information indicative of the internal state and the information indicative of the external state received from the gateway.

The first status data is processed by a receiver controller. A connected mode operation is established for the system responsive to determining at least one of a critical device status and a critical analyte value status. The establishing includes establishing a communication channel between the sensor system and the receiver and receiving a second data package transmitted by the sensor system in the receiver, the second data package comprising one or more analyte values.

The system may receive one or more environmental readings from a sensor taking readings at an environmentally controlled area. The system may further determine a timestamp corresponding to each of the one or more readings and calculate, using the one or more readings and their corresponding timestamps, an exposure of a good stored within the temperature-controlled area. The system may further determine that the calculated exposure of the good has surpassed a pre-determined exposure threshold for the good and send an electronic message configured to indicate such determination to a user. The system may use a neural network to predict future readings and/or events based on current readings and use the predictions in methods described herein.
