A wearable audio output device with a rotatable input mechanism outputs first audio that is based on first media and, while outputting the first audio, receives a first input via the rotatable input mechanism. In response to receiving the first input: in accordance with a determination that the first input is a first type of input to the rotatable input mechanism that includes rotation of the rotatable input mechanism, the wearable audio output device changes an audio output volume of the first audio based on the rotation of the rotatable input mechanism while continuing to output the first audio; and, in accordance with a determination that the first input is a second type of input to the rotatable input mechanism, where the second type of input is different from the first type of input, the wearable audio output device ceases to output the first audio.

Augmented hearing system

Some implementations may involve receiving, via an interface system, personnel location data indicating a location of at least one person and receiving, from an orientation system, headset orientation data corresponding with the orientation of a headset. First environmental element location data, indicating a location of at least a first environmental element, may be determined. Based at least in part on the headset orientation data, the personnel location data and the first environmental element location data, headset coordinate locations of at least one person and at least the first environmental element in a headset coordinate system corresponding with the orientation of the headset may be determined. An apparatus may be caused to provide spatialization indications of the headset coordinate locations. Providing the spatialization indications may involve controlling a speaker system to provide environmental element sonification corresponding with at least the first environmental element location data.

Housing comprising a sensor

An assembly of at least one radiation detector, at least one radiation emitter and a housing configured to be positioned inside the ear canal of a person or animal, the detector(s) and emitter(s) being provided in or on the housing, the emitter(s) being configured to emit radiation away from the housing and the detector(s) being configured to receive radiation directed toward the housing. No overlap may be provided between the field of view of the radiation detector(s) and the emitter(s), such as by providing a blocking element.

Method for direction-dependent noise rejection for a hearing system containing a hearing apparatus and hearing system
11570557 · 2023-01-31 · ·

In a method for direction-dependent noise rejection for a hearing system, first and second input transducers are used to generate an interference signal and a target signal from a sound from the surroundings. The interference signal and/or the target signal are referenced to a useful signal source arranged in a target direction. The target signal is generated with a target directivity pattern. For each of a first plurality of frequency bands, an acoustic characteristic of the target signal is compared with a corresponding acoustic characteristic of the interference signal, and the comparison is used to ascertain a provisional weighting factor. The provisional weighting factor is used to form for the frequency band a weighting factor for the respective frequency bands. An input signal to be processed is weighted on a frequency-band-by-frequency-band basis using the respective weighting factor, and the weighted input signal is used to generate an output signal.

Contact detection via impedance analysis

An electronic device may include one or more terminals configured to provide a voltage signal to an actuator. The electronic device may detect a current associated with the voltage signal provided by the terminal to the actuator. The electronic device may determine an impedance across associated with the actuator based on the voltage signal and the electrical current. The electronic device may compare the impedance to a threshold impedance to determine whether there is sufficient skin contact with the actuator. The electronic device may provide audio via cartilage conduction if there is sufficient contact based on comparing the impedance to the threshold impedance, or may output a notification to the user to adjust placement of the electronic device to improve contact.

CABLE COMPACTION SYSTEM FOR PROTECTIVE PERSONAL EQUIPMENT

A hearing protection device is presented. The device has a first earmuff connected to a second earmuff by a connector. Each of the first and second earmuffs are configured to receive an ambient sound and provide a dampened ambient sound to a wearer. The device also has a cable, with a cable length, that extends from the first earmuff to the second earmuff. The cable is coupled to the connector by a connection assembly. The connection assembly comprises a plurality of connection mechanisms arranged in a connection plan. Such a hearing protection device gives more freedom of placing the cable in a compact arrangement.
