Damping in contact hearing systems
Embodiments of the present invent include a method of controlling unwanted vibration in a tympanic lens, wherein the tympanic lens comprises a perimeter platform connected to a microactuator through at least one biasing element, the method comprising the step of: damping the motion of the at least one biasing element. In embodiments of the invention, the at least one biasing element is a spring. In embodiments of the invention, the at least one bias spring is coated in a damping material.
Hearing aid having two interconnected parts
A hearing aid, in particular a BTE hearing aid, includes a base part and an ear hook which can be attached to the base part. In an assembled state, the base part and the ear hook are connected by a nozzle and a receptacle. A sound channel runs through the nozzle. The nozzle has a circumferential outer wall and the receptacle has a circumferential inner wall. In the assembled state, a circumferential sealing ring having a thickness is disposed between the outer wall and the inner wall. The sealing ring lies in particular in an annular groove and the inner wall preferably has two reduction sections which compress the sealing ring.
Acoustic output device with antenna
A BTE prosthetic device for use in a medical system or prosthesis comprises a connector configured to mechanically attach an auxiliary device of the system to the BTE prosthetic device. The connector is electrically connected to a transceiver of the BTE prosthetic device. The connector operates as an electromagnetic antenna for transmitting and/or receiving signals between the BTE prosthetic and other components of the medical system.
Hearing device including a sensor and hearing system including same
Various embodiments of a hearing device and a system of using such device are disclosed. The hearing device includes a housing, electronic components disposed within the housing, and an earpiece adapted to be disposed in an ear canal of the ear of the wearer. The device also includes a sensor adapted to be in contact with a portion of the ear of the wearer, where the sensor is further adapted to detect a physiological characteristic of the wearer and generate a sensor signal based on the physiological characteristic that is received by a controller of the electronic components disposed within the housing; and a cable that operatively connects the sensor to the earpiece, where the cable is biased to maintain contact between the sensor and the portion of the ear of the wearer when the earpiece is disposed in the ear canal of the wearer.
SOUND OUTPUT DEVICE AND SOUND GUIDING DEVICE
Provided is a sound output device worn on an ear of a listener and used, and having listening characteristics of an ambient sound in a wearing state. A sound output device 100 includes a sound generating portion 110 that generates a sound, a sound guiding portion 120 that takes in the sound generated in the sound generating portion 110 from one end 121, and a holding portion 130 that holds the sound guiding portion 120 in the vicinity of the other end 122. The holding portion 130 is engaged with an intertragic notch, and supports the sound guiding portion 120 such that a sound output hole of the other end 122 of the sound guiding portion 120 to face a depth side of an ear canal. Even in a state where the listener wears the sound output device 100, the sound output device 100 does not block an ear cavity of the listener, and the listener can listen to the ambient sound.
MICROPHONE PLACEMENT
A device including a prosthesis configured with a sound capture system and configured to evoke a hearing percept based on a captured sound captured by the sound capture system, wherein at least a portion of the prosthesis is configured to attach to a head of a recipient such that sound is captured by the sound capture system externally of the recipient at a location below an ear canal of a human.
ACOUSTIC TUBE AND HEARING DEVICE SYSTEM INCLUDING SAME
Various embodiments of an acoustic tube and a hearing device system that includes an acoustic tube are disclosed. The acoustic tube includes a body, a lumen disposed within the body that extends along a lumen axis between a first end and a second end of the body, and a magnetic coupler disposed adjacent to the first end and adapted to connect the acoustic tube to a housing of a hearing device. The acoustic tube further includes an outlet disposed adjacent to the first end and acoustically connected to the lumen, where the outlet is adapted to be acoustically connected to a microphone of the hearing device; and an inlet disposed adjacent to the second end and acoustically connected to the lumen. The acoustic tube is adapted to direct acoustic energy received by the inlet through the lumen and the outlet to the microphone of the hearing device.
AUDIO AMPLIFICATION ELECTRONIC DEVICE WITH INDEPENDENT PITCH AND BASS RESPONSE ADJUSTMENT
Techniques used to selectively amplify audio signals are described herein in connection with audio amplification electronic devices, such as hearing aids, including over-the-ear hearing aids. A device and its operation are described to facilitate setting low and high tone/volume controls separately, using at least two selection mechanisms. In one aspect, a first selection mechanism includes a pitch frequency control rocker switch and the second selection mechanism includes a bass frequency control rocker switch disposed separately. In one aspect, the bass frequency control rocker switch causes a processor to bias the frequency response of the sound amplifier for frequencies below 1 kHz. In another aspect, the pitch frequency control rocker switch causes a processor to bias the frequency response of the hearing for frequencies above 1 kHz. In another aspect, the selection mechanism involves the separate attenuation of treble and bass adjustments in response to a user selection of a rocker switch setting for each adjustment.
