Audio systems and methods for obtaining location information are disclosed. A portable, wireless speaker that may include a beacon that a user may activate to remotely trigger a request for shot information, which may include location information of the user or speaker. The beacon may be wirelessly coupled to the speaker. The speaker may receive location information from a remote device, such as a GPS-enabled mobile phone. The shot information may be converted into an audio format for playback by the speaker. The speaker may pause the playback of the speaker to play out the shot information.

Sound masking system

A sound masking system according to the invention is disclosed in which one or more sound masking loudspeaker assemblies are coupled to one or more electronic sound masking signal generators. The loudspeaker assemblies in the system of the invention have a low directivity index and preferably emit an acoustic sound masking signal that has a sound masking spectrum specifically designed to provide superior sound masking in an open plan office. Each of the plurality of loudspeaker assemblies is oriented to provide the acoustic sound masking signal in a direct path into the predetermined area in which masking sound is needed. In addition, the sound masking system of the invention can include a remote control function by which a user can select from a plurality of stored sets of information for providing from a recipient loudspeaker assembly an acoustic sound masking signal having a-selected sound masking spectrum.

Speaker unit

Disclosed is a speaker unit which includes a speaker surface provided in a bottom surface of a cabinet section and a provisionally fastening mechanism provided on a side surface of the cabinet section. The provisionally fastening mechanism includes: an engagement section for provisionally fastening the speaker unit to the mounting part; an operating section exposed on a face side of a mounting part with the speaker unit provisionally fastened via the engagement section; and a non-shielded portion formed adjacent to the outer periphery of the speaker surface for allowing the operating section to be visible from a face side of the speaker surface. The non-shielded portion is an opening or a recess formed in a flange section projecting radially outward from the outer peripheral edge of the bottom surface of the cabinet section.

LOUDSPEAKER MOUNTING SYSTEM

In a dropped ceiling assembly system elements are provided which include an elongate planar shelf held below an elongate spine. The shelf has lateral edges which can support edges of a ceiling tile resting thereon. This spine is configured to be held in position either adjacent to spines of other elements within a dropped ceiling or from above, such as by suspension wires passing through suspension holes in the spine. A compartment is provided on an underside of the shelf which is sized and shaped to receive and hold at least a portion of a loudspeaker therein. The loudspeaker mounting system is thus integrated into the shelf which also acts to hold ceiling tiles within a dropped ceiling.

MICROPHONE ARRAY, MONITORING SYSTEM, AND SOUND PICKUP SETTING METHOD

When a microphone array apparatus sound-picks up voice in a prescribed sound volume or higher, which is output from a sound source, and sends voice data on the voice to voice processing apparatus, a sound source direction detection unit causes sound source marks, each of which indicates a directivity direction, to be displayed on a display, and urges a user to make a selection among the sound source marks and to input camera information. A voice processing apparatus transmits the camera information that is input, and the directivity direction, to the microphone array apparatus. The microphone array apparatus stores the camera information and the directivity direction, as a preset information table, in a storage unit. Accordingly, where a positional relationship between the camera and the microphone array is unclear, directionality is formed in a determined image capture position, and voice in the predetermined image capture position is output clearly.
