System and method for determining impact characteristics of sports ball striking element
A method includes identifying a first point on an object striking element in a first image and a second image from images. The first and second images are captured within a predetermined time span of an impact of the object with the element and determining an impact time of the impact in combination with determining a position in the first and/or second images corresponding to a location of the object at the impact time. Based on the positions of the first point in the first and second images, determining a position in the first and/or second images corresponding to a position of the first point at the impact time. The method also includes determining a distance from the imager to a location at which the object and the element impact one another and determining an impact location of the object relative to the first point.
PROGRAMMABLE CONTEXT AWARE ALARM DEVICES AND METHODS
A wide variety of devices generate alarms when a particular condition is met. For example, a smoke detector generates an alarm upon detecting smoke whilst a motion detector generates an alarm upon detecting motion when the system to which the motion detector is connected is set or armed. However, in each instance the alarm is the same when the specific condition, e.g. smoke, motion; is met. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide users with an alarm which is generated in dependence upon an overall context within which the alarm is established and the resulting alarm generated varies in dependence upon the established context.
Multiple sensor tracking system and method
A system and method for tracking the flight of golf balls at driving range. The system includes a plurality of hitting stations, a plurality of sensors, a computer, and a range surface. Each hitting station in the plurality of hitting stations includes a golf ball, a golf club, a monitor, and a sensor. At least one other sensor in the plurality of sensors is placed outside a hitting station. The flight path of the golf balls being calculated by the computer using parameters by the plurality of sensors. The method includes steps for determining whether a first sensor detected a first parameter and a second parameter, whether a second sensor detected a first and a second parameter, whether a third sensor detected a third parameter, and depicting the flight path of the golf balls using the first parameter, the second parameter, and the third parameter.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING BALL FLIGHT DATA TO CREATE A CONSISTENTLY GAPPED GOLF CLUB SET
A system includes a processor configured for leveraging reference ball flight data associated with an individual and a reference club having a reference loft angle to compute predicted ball flight characteristics for other candidate golf clubs having loft angles different from the reference loft angle. The predicted ball flight characteristics include predicted distances of golf shots the individual is expected to make using the candidate golf clubs that can further accommodate a computed recommendation of optimal loft angles for a consistently gapped golf club set.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRANSLATING SPORTS TRACKING DATA INTO STATISTICS AND PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
System and methods for automatically determining states of game object possession for sporting contests. The system uses the minimum necessary and sufficient data, including the predefined tracking layout, official game time-in versus time-out data, centroid location of each player matched with their identity data and centroid location of the game object data which is then converted deterministically into at least clock states and game object movement states. The system and methods also disclose the further combining of these states into the determination of the cycle of possession flow. For determining the states of possession of the game object, the system and methods disclose using either an instantaneous or average measured distance between each player and the game object in combination with a minimum radius defining each player's area of influence and a minimum time necessary for the game object to be within this area before possession can be assigned.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTEGRATING MEASUREMENTS CAPTURED DURING A GOLF SWING
The present embodiments provide systems and methods for aggregating measurements captured by different technologies during a golf swing. By capturing measurements using different technologies, more accurate measurements may be provided to a user by selecting from the measurements, offsetting measurements based on the technologies used, and aligning measurements between devices. Further, by aggregating measurements received from different devices, additional features and functionality may be provided to the user that is absent from any one device used alone. Additionally, by storing the aggregated measurements, users, club fitters and instructors may access and leverage larger databases of measurements to better understand the user's golf swing and to provide better recommendations and instruction to the user.
The method also includes one another and determining an impact location of the object relative to the first point.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING CLUB PATH, FACE TO PATH AND FACE TO TARGET DURING GOLF SWING
Systems and methods are provided for predicting the club path, the face to path and the face to target of a golf club during a golf swing. Preferred embodiments include a sensing module executing code and configured to determine launch characteristics of a sport object upon being launched by the golf club. Preferred embodiments also include a trajectory module executing code and configured to record a plurality of golf swings, comprising at least a known club path, face to path and face to target value. The club path, the face to path and the face to target of the golf swing can then be predicted based on the launch characteristics and the recorded plurality of golf swings.
System and Method for Enhanced Determination of Club Delivery Parameters
A system enhances determination of club delivery parameters and includes an imager capturing a sequence of images of an area in which an impact between a golf club and a ball is to take place, the imager being configured to take a pre-impact series of images from an initial time pre-impact through a time of impact and a post-impact series of images from the time of impact through a final time after the time of impact; and a processor determining ball launch parameters based on a post-impact series of images. The processor performs following operations: identify predetermined characteristic points on the golf club in each of the pre-impact images; determine pre-impact travelling path data for the golf club based on positions of the identified characteristic points in the pre-impact images; and calculate club delivery parameters from a mechanical impact model based on the pre-impact travelling path data.
