We generally describe a detection system and a method for tracking a moving object. The detection system (101) comprises a sensor (102) which is configured to sense an event. The system further comprises a trigger detection module (108a) which is coupled to the sensor (102), wherein the trigger detection module (108a) is configured to identify the sensed event to be a trigger event. The system further comprises an imaging device (114) for imaging the trajectory of an object, and an imaging device control unit (112) for controlling the imaging device (114). The imaging device control unit (112) is coupled to the trigger detection module (180a), wherein the imaging device control unit (112) is configured to control the imaging device (114) in response to a trigger event being identified by the trigger detection module (108a). The imaging device (114) is coupled to the imaging device control unit (112) for providing a feedback from the imaging device (114) to the imaging device control unit (112), wherein the controlling of the imaging

ADAPTIVE TENNIS BALL MACHINE

A smart ball-machine uses artificial intelligence to train a player or to play with a player. For example, the ball-machine can adjust the tennis ball speed, topspin, bounce according to the player's successful ball return rate. The ball-machine can be preconfigured with a profile of a player. For example, the ball-machine may download a complete profile of a tennis player from a game recording, or may download a file with a customized profile of a player to train a player using the ball-machine. The ball-machine is equipped with a plurality of wheels, motors, and shafts to provide a fully customizable launch of one or more balls. For example, the ball can be launched from the machine from one side of a tennis court to another side of a tennis court with a variety of speeds, trajectories, topspin, bounce etc.

An athletic training system includes one or more panels having a rigid front surface covered by a translucent material behind which is an illumination or light source and one or more pressure sensors that can detect and measure the pressure caused by impact against the front surface. A control device communicates with and controls the panels according to a selected exercise regimen that is designed to develop particular skills for an athletic or sporting endeavor by commanding the panel or panels to illuminate or display information. While illuminated or displaying, each panel actively monitors its pressure sensor for an indication of an impact, and upon detecting an impact, reports the detection of the impact to the control device, and turns off its illumination. The process of turning panels on and off and detecting impact can be used to construct various regimens for training and developing skills.
