Providing Utilization Information for Intelligent Selection of Operating Parameters of a Wireless Access Point
Aspects of the disclosure are directed toward intelligently selecting the operating parameters of wireless access points (WAPs) deployed in a wireless environment so as to minimize or at least reduce interference in that wireless environment. A WAP continually measures the characteristics of the wireless channels used in the wireless environment and obtains measurements of channel metrics for those channels. The WAP stores the channel metric measurements as a channel metric history and analyzes the channel metric history to determine correlations between the channel metric measurements and various timeframes. The WAP selects one or more of its operating parameters based on the channel metric history and the correlations identified. Operating parameters include the radio frequency band and channel to transmit on. A centralized control server may also receive, store, and analyze channel metric histories from multiple WAPs and issue instructions to those WAPs identifying values for their respective operating parameters.
Cellular communications network
This invention relates to a method in a cellular communications network having a plurality of base stations, and to a base station for said cellular communications network, wherein each base station is configured to use a frequency band of one of a hierarchy of spectrum levels, the method comprising: a first base station using a frequency band of a first spectrum level of the hierarchy of spectrum levels; determining an interference level in the network; determining whether the interference level indicates that the first base station's performance is sub-optimal; and, if so, the first base station reconfiguring to use a frequency band of a second spectrum level of the hierarchy of spectrum levels, the second spectrum level having a different number of frequency bands than the first spectrum level.

Network capacity adjustment using experience blocking ratio
A network capacity adjustment is described herein. The network device determines an experience blocking ratio of a cell based on a quantity of concurrent users of the cell and a quantity of equivalent channels of the cell, determines an experience blocking ratio of a cell based on a traffic volume distribution model in the cell, or determines an experience blocking ratio of a cell based on an actual experience rate of each session and a required single-user experience rate. The quantity of equivalent channels of the cell are adjusted based on the experience blocking ratio of the cell. A network capacity of the cell is adjusted based on the experience blocking ratio of the cell, so that an adjusted network capacity of the cell can satisfy user experience.

SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT FOR DSS-BASED NETWORKS
A system and method of managing network bandwidth is provided, in which one or more utilization thresholds are set for an access node, wherein the access node is configured to communicate using a band consisting of a first portion corresponding to communication in a first communication mode and a second communication mode and a second portion corresponding to communication in the first communication mode but not the second communication mode; and one or more utilization parameters are monitored and compared to the corresponding utilization threshold(s). Based on the comparison, the sizes of the portions may be modified and/or wireless devices seeking to join the network may be appropriately assigned.
NETWORK SLICING OPERATION
Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided for a network control node for connecting a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a network slice in a network. The network control node may receive service information associated with a service being requested by the WTRU, wherein the service information comprises one or more of a service class, a quality of service (QoS) requirement, or a mobility characteristic. The network control node may determine slice information associated with a plurality of network slices, wherein the slice information comprises one or more of an identifier of the network slice, priority of the network slice, a service class served by the network slice, a target device class, a QoS target, mobility support, security service, charging information, and/or performance information. The network control node may determine subscriber information for the WTRU. The network control node may select at least a first network slice of the plurality of network slices to serve the WTRU, wherein the network control node selects the first network slice based on the service information, the slice information associated with the first network slice, and the subscriber information for the WTRU. The network control node may determine whether the network control node or another network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice. On condition that the network control node determines that the network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice, the network control node may provide at least one network service associated with the first network slice to the WTRU. Or, on condition that the network control node determines that the another network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice, the network control node may send a request to the another network control node that indicates that the another network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice.
